My boys had a blast here. They are 7 & 9. The store workers were super friendly and helpful. They buckets are not cheap, but you get a lot of stones so I think it was a fair value. Definitely a place to come back to on our next trip!

After sluicing our pail of sand, we found lots of large semi-precious stones plus a sapphire. The shop's owner was very helpful to us in identifying our finds. My 7-year-old granddaughter was delighted with her new treasures. We will definitely go back.

My kids are 15, 13 and 10 and they all loved it! Kyle was very knowledgable about the stones they sifted and there were quite a few. He made one of them sound like quite the find which was very exciting for my daughter who found a ruby/emerald combo. We would go there again.

Went there with a 3 and a 6 year old. They loved it. The young man who was working was very knowledgeable and had a great interaction with the children

I brought my little cousin here today (6 almost 7 years old) she never went mining before and while having a day in Brevard i happened across this place. I've gem mined a hand full of times when I was younger and thought she should try it to. We bought a 30 dollar bucket and it was pretty cool how... More

I read some great reviews of this place so we decided to take our 8-year-old daughter here. The gift shop was very cute with lots of interesting gifts and our daughter very much enjoyed panning. She got a decent amount and variety just from the $10 bucket. The service from the girl behind the counter, however, was shockingly terrible. I... More

I am so sorry about the experience you had with that employee, her behavior was completely unacceptable. We have always taken great pride in having exceptional customer service; upon reading your review that employee was immediately terminated. Everything you mentioned in your review is the exact opposite of what we strive for on a daily basis at Crystal Mountain Gem... More

I took my 3 year old niece to mine for rocks. She had a blast, enjoyed getting her hands a little dirty mining for rocks. Everything we found was really cool! The employee there was fantastic, he even did a magic show for her! We are definitely bring her back here!

My husband and I went winter of 2016 and enjoyed the time we spent there "mining" our gems. We didn't come across too big of pieces, but we had fun doing it and enjoyed our time together there and oohing and ahhing over what we did find. It's been a year since we've been and we still have our gems.

I went with my girlfriend this past Sunday and we specifically asked for the gem bucket with emeralds, rubies and sapphires. This should have been the first red flag in that they pre sort their gems there. Found absolutely nothing of any value in the bucket. Only 2 emeralds, no sapphires or rubies. The gentlemen working said he barely sees... More

Hey Paul, We are very sorry that you were disappointed with what you found. Our gem mining dirt is from 22 different private mine shafts all across Western North Carolina, giving us different mining dirt for each type of bucket we offer. No sorting of the gems is done, we do categorize the different kinds of dirt so that we... More

I still remember my first time here! My sister and I got the biggest bucket in the store and spent hours digging and sifting through the sand - we found so many gems and rocks. We still come here frequently and have built up quite the collection from all the things that we’ve found in our buckets. The rocks are... More
