There is something so inspiring about seeing this lighthouse out in the middle of nowhere surrounded by all that sky. It just makes me very aware of its purpose - to keep ships off the dangerous shores. Lots of ships sank in this area, so it was no joke. There is not a lot out this way to appeal to... More

Hatteras Lighthouse is a beautiful Lighthouse. what else you can expect from a lighthouse other than the stairs to the top and knowledgeable park staffs to tell you the history about it.

Wonderful visitor center and lighthouse. Rangers inside were helpful with the questions we had about what we have found on the beach. We visited off season and would love to have more programing but understand why they don't. The beach outside the lighthouse was great and we enjoyed walking and picking up shells.

A great place to visit while you are in Cape Hatteras. The park offers many amenities and the beaches are unmatched on the east coast. The lighthouse is a historic national treasure. There is ample parking onsite and the historic area is very accessible to all ages. I would highly recommend the tour of the lighthouse and surrounding buildings. Definitely... More

I have heard about this famous lighthouse most of my life so was looking forward to finally seeing it since we were on the Outer Banks. The lighthouse itself is pretty magnificent. However, the visitor center consists of a bookstore that had no information on the lighthouse, unless you wanted to buy a book or DVD about it. The museum... More

Very interesting lighthouse and museum with helpful staff. Quite a climb but worth it for the wonderful views at the top. Was unable to go out onto the walkway on the day we visited as the winds were very high.

It's about an hour from Nags Head - beautiful/easy drive. The actual light house was closed when we visited but the visitor's center and gift shop were still open. If you go, be sure to visit the original location as well. it's amazing to see how they did this so watch the movie as well.

The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is one of the most beautiful treasures this country has to offer. It has stood for decades as a symbol of continuity and safety. It is even more beautiful standing in its newer location inland and hopefully will be standing for decades to come. We have visited the Lighthouse many times over the years, in both... More

Cape Hatteras Light is a lighthouse located on Hatteras Island in the Outer Banks in the town of Buxton, North Carolina and is part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The Outer Banks are a group of islands on the North Carolina coast that separate the Atlantic Ocean from the coastal sounds and inlets. Atlantic currents in this area made... More

I have always loved the look of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, so it's no surprise that I thoroughly enjoyed it. The lighthouse is a very impressive structure. You can attend a talk given by one of the park rangers, on the deck of the gift shop & within sight of the lighthouse--we found it not only informative but also interesting... More
