Must see when in the Asheville area!
Jun 2021
Spent a day hiking at DuPont when in the Asheville area. They have a lovely trail of about 3-4 miles where you can see 3 different waterfalls along the way. The "high falls" are really impressive, then there's the triple falls (decent) and one other. Really enjoyed the walk, though it was getting on the crowded side by the time we finished (around lunchtime). There is some elevation along the trek, so it's not for people with limited mobiity for sure.

One bummer - the information center was closed, apparently due to COVID.

We went to DuPont to go to Hooker falls, water is cold. We brought our lunches and you can bring dog on a leash. BRING WATER SHOES!! Rocks are dangerously slippery. A natural beauty

Awesome Falls!
Jun 2021 • Couples
Wonderful waterfalls. Big parking area for Hooker Falls. Triple Falls can be accessed this way as well. Wife and I both loved the woodlands scenery and the falls.

Beautiful waterfalls with unsure footing for people with leg problems and balance issues
May 2021 • Friends
Beautiful waterfalls. The path to Hooker Falls is pretty much all large gravel and it is not any easy walk for people with leg problems.

High Falls is a large waterfall located just up the road . It is a combination of some small gravel and larger gravel when you get closer to the falls. On the High Falls Loop it would be better if they better marked which direction to get to the falls you want to see. The walk to High Falls closer to the falls is very steep and not an easy walk

Beautiful waterfalls
Apr 2021
We hiked to the covered bridge, Grassy Creek falls, then back over the covered bridge to High Falls, from the upper parking lot. The covered bridge and High Falls were worth the hikes. Grassy Creek Falls was not worth the extra walking. We then drove to the lower parking lot to hike to Triple falls and Hooker Falls. Both also worth the hikes. Apparently the parking lots can fill up quickly, so my suggestion would be to go early. We went on a Sunday morning and didn't have trouble parking, but when we left the lower lot around 12:30, it was full and people were waiting to park. FYI, on the way to Hooker Falls, there's an old graveyard off to the left. We stopped in on the way back. Very sad to see 4 graves with children all dying in 1861, I had to look up their story when returning home. The children died within 18 days of each other from diphtheria. Their father requested to be buried next to them when he passed.

Awesome waterfalls!
Mar 2021
We parked in the parking lot near the Hooker Falls and made a day of hiking to all the waterfalls - Triple Falls, High Falls, Bridal Veil Falls plus Lake Dense. The whole hike was around 10 miles. Take water, wear good shoes because some of the trails are really rocky and steep. Definitely worth the time.

High Falls, Triple Falls, Hooker Falls Hike
Mar 2021
A couple of hours of hiking starting at the Visitor Center - went to the covered bridge and then down to High Falls. There are a couple of somewhat hidden trails/steps that take you all the way down to the base of the falls which is a must if you want to get an up close experience. A short hike from there to Triple Falls - at the bottom of the falls there was a place to walk back up toward the falls on the bank of the river and to wade around under the last fall. Another short trip over to Hooker Falls - which would be a fantastic place to swim if it had been warmer. All in all a very enjoyable few hours of hiking on very nice paths.

Lots of trails
Feb 2021 • Family
It seems there are trails throughout the park. We went to the kids bike loop so the children could explore. But there were several walking trails in that area. And there were trails to ride horses upon. The kids left totally exhausted so I am guessing they had a great day in the fresh air.

Easy hike with falls and covered bridge
Feb 2021 • Family
After finding out the Blue Ridge Parkway was closed, concierge recommended DuPont state Park which was a perfect easy hike on a cold, damp, misty day with my daughter who had minor foot surgery 2.5 months ago and my husband who is not a walker/ hiker. We saw the covered bridge and high falls. It was less than 3 miles round trip.
