This 1,200-acre park was once the estate of William Neal Reynolds, brother of tobacco businessman R.J. Reynolds. The Reynolds willed the Tanglewood property to the citizens of Forsyth County to share as a public recreational park. The combination of its streams, woodlands, and grassy pastures with the traditions of its architecture, horses, gardening, and wide range of recreational activities make Tanglewood an ideal countryside park to visit over and over again.

Christmas lights

The lights are great but the wait time to drive thru is a 1 or more. We went to the gift shop and roasted marshmallows.

We've rented a shelter for a large function, walked the trails, visited the dog walk and park, spent an afternoon at the arboretum and attended a large family reunion at the pool. This past winter we visited to see a truly professional light show. This also has a full hookup RV park, horseback riding and (from what I understand) a... More

Figure eight wooded trail that winds 2 miles through the woods and by stables and horses. Very nice paved path, plenty of parking. No fee if you turn left at the intersection before the gate. People are friendly. Dog Park too!

Everyone told us to bring my friend's one-year old child to see the holiday Festival of Lights at Tanglewood Park. We were also warned not to go during the "busy" times, so we went on a Thursday evening around 6:30 PM in the middle of December. Alas, it was packed even then, we had to wait approximately 45 minutes to... More

The park did a really nice job with their light themes throughout the park this year. For less traffic and wait time, attend after Christmas. We had a wonderful time avoiding the crowds by arriving around 6:00 p.m.

try going during the week on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday nights and the line will be much shorter than on the weekend. Have to go every year. This year the marshmellows were back and much safer setup.

We visit frequently; we have a year round pass we like it so much. The Spring of the year when the azaleas, etc. are in bloom is my favorite. Don't miss the arboretum! Lots of things for the kids to do in the park; the pool, swings, fishing, the big locomotive and lots of room to wear themselves out running... More

If your the kind of folks that drive through neighborhoods to see Christmas decorations you will love the drive through the park experience. Allow at least 2 hours. Part of that is waiting on the line to get in. If you like to shop Christmas stores, get some hot chocolate and take the tractor ride allow at least another hour.... More

Visited on a weekday to see the festival of lights with my significant other. The lights were fantastic. I can't speak too much about the park itself because it was dark outside and I was only there for the lights.
