Visited in December, but was was closed, and so we had to take a look from outside. However there is not really a good view of it from close by. Don't know how interesting it would be when open, but from outside there are not enough angles to take worthwhile photographs. Not worth a visit if it is not open... More

Lighthouse is closed in January. Grounds are nice and allow for some good pictures of the lighthouse. Property has a nice pier that takes you far into the Sound.

We stopped here on a day trip up the Outer Banks. It was a really pretty stop! We didn't walk up this time, but enjoyed the gift shop in addition to walking around the area. Next time I hope to walk up.

We go to area annually and have been to lighthouse numerous times. Normally a line so maybe get there early or plan ahead with cooler with drinks in your vehicle. Next to the Whalehead club area, down from wild horse museum, normally an ice cream cart outside gate.

Keep in mind that during the winter seasons, it is CLOSED for climbing. However, you can walk the grounds and take as many pictures as you would like. We will be back during normal season so we can climb it!

Beautiful grounds and peaceful setting. The climb to the top wasn't too tough. The views from the top of the lighthouse are fabulous. We took a lot of awesome pictures. There is a gift shop next to the lighthouse. Lots of good souvenirs.

Enjoyed the visit. The lighthouse is nestled in the pine trees and is closed for the winter. It was hard to get a great view of the lighthouse from the gate due to it being surrounded by trees but as I walked around the premises, I was able to get beautiful pictures. Worth seeing if you enjoy lighthouses. Hope to... More

Decided to keep going North after a morning at the beach to see the Currituck Lighthouse. The only problem is the Lighthouse is closed for the winter (will reopen March 20, 2017). Could view it from 100' away, but couldn't climb it. It is beautiful in the natural red brick color. Glad we went even though it was closed, traffic... More
