My husband and I made our way up to the Currituck Beach Lighthouse, arriving not long before closing, with the intent of taking a few pictures. As we approached the building, which is set in an historic little village of Corolla of vintage buildings in the pines, we were told that people were still able to climb to the top... More

This place appealed to me because it's HAUNTED! The story goes that in the 1600s, a ship went down near this area. In 1875, the lighthouse was opened. It had a cottage next door for the lighthouse keeper and his family. His daughter went missing one day and was found drowned nearby. This is when the ghost stories started, but... More

The lighthouse is the centerpiece of this area. There is information throughout the lighthouse on its history and about other lighthouses of the era. The climb affords fantastic views of the sound and the ocean. Definitely a must see, and at $10, a bargain.

It was chilly during our visit. I have a little trouble with heights but was determined to get up to the top. I liked the "information stations" on each landing, so you could catch your breath while you read the history of the lighthouse. One out of the stairwell at the top, it was a bit scary- somewhat open railing.... More

My wife and I enjoyed touring the grounds. Very well kept, and nice way to spend some time in Corolla. We did not ascend to the lighthouse top, but I'm sure folks with children would love the experience.

This was our favorite lighthouse on the Outer Banks. Although the others of similar style that are painted black and white are impressive, this one is unique since you can really see the brick construction. The price to climb ($10) seemed a bit high, but it does go toward the maintenance and upkeep which must cost quite a bit. With... More

We earned our sticker and climbed to the top of the lighthouse! The history there was so wonderful to read and the people working were so informative. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and highly recommend it to anyone who goes to the area. Its nice to see the history of the place you are vacationing in and not just go... More

Apparantly the views from the top are wonderful, but at $10 a person for 4 people I thought it was abit expensive so we did not do the walk. The gift shop was wonderful

Visited this lighthouse in October. You can climb to the top, however time restrictions did not allow it on this visit for us. This lighthouse is really beautiful and a bit different than the others in that it is all brick. There is a shop there which is interesting to visit and where you can find lots of information and...
