Did a group camping trip here in the middle of October and was a very good experience. Plenty of trails to hike, lots of beautiful waterfalls to see. Plenty of mountains to hike to the top of. This trip we hiked to Moores Knob where the Fire Tower is and this was a fairly tough hike for our group but... More

This is a very popular hiking area! There is a wonderful visitor center with exhibits info, gift shop, and bathrooms. Several trails to either water falls or up to top of rocks to see incredible views. Lots of people and dogs so almost hard to find a place to sit on the rocks. But it was a weekend and the... More

The welcome center was very helpful and the trials to the falls were not too bad. Lower Cascades Falls was less crowded than the other falls. Lots of people on the weekend so be prepared to wait.

The drive can be a bit put of the way but even the drive is gorgeous. Since we went during the fall the leaves were gorgeous and there was just enough Bute in the wind to make it pleasant. The trails are very well kept and the sights are gorgeous. There Re quite a few beautiful scenes and picture options... More

There are multiple trails in the park, but we took 3 trails one recent Saturday: First, the 1.3m trail up to Hanging Rock. We wore regular sneakers and it was mostly uphill or up stairs, so a great hiking workout. Once you got to the top, the view from Hanging Rock was beautiful. There were quite a few people on... Unless distance is measured straight down, the lower falls are much further than 500 ft. There are wooden stairs and steps carved into or made from rocks. The view is well worth the sore thighs. The grotto is perfect with clear, cold water and a wonderful volume of water making the sound serene. We are coming back to use the... More

Enjoyed a nice hike to hanging rock while visiting daughter in NC. Trail is clearly marked and well traveled. Views are spectacular. I would suggest bringing water but there was a farmers market in the parking lot that sold delicious homemade cookies. Take the time to visit the waterfalls too. You don't need to be an expert hiker but it... More

We visited Hanging Rock State Park on a recent trip to North Carolina. The park does not charge admission, It was a very hot day, into the 90s. We hiked a couple of easy trails. It was nice to see there was a reward at the end of each. We didn't see any wildlife, but the park was very crowded.... More

Very beautiful views and waterfalls...also has clean bathrooms! The trails were nice and marked...some had steep climbs for small children but we managed and they loved it.
