We visited with our 13 & 6 yr old daughters. We decided to dig our own buckets. Two buckets a person was plenty! It was beautiful weather outside. My youngest was the only one who ruined her shirt. So beware and wear old shirts especially the little ones. They get a lil wet. The dirt does not come out of... More

From the moment we arrived and were greeted by the owner of the mine everything felt comfortable and well organised. Helpful advice was always there when needed and everyone from the youngest child to the older 'miners' was made welcome. Can't speak highly enough about this experience. Highly recommended.

We want to do a kid-friendly activity since they are to small for rafting/zip-lining, so we stopped by Rose Creek. And we are glad we did!! We bought the dig-your-own buckets and the kids enjoyed filling them up from the dirt pile. Found some decent size stones in that, but we also bought a premium bucket and dumped it into... More

Nice day out at an enhanced mine. If you need a guarantee day with going home with a gem Rose Creek does a nice job. We found several pieces of gems from various parts around the world without too much effort.

Rose Creek mine is so worth doing again. My husband, myself, a 10 year old boy and a 5 year old girl had a wonderful time. We picked salted buckets- my son loves rocks and has a polisher at home so he wanted to take home a nice selection. He was thrilled with the rocks. What we all loved was... More

Tom & Linda are great. Very friendly, helpful and a wealth of info both historical & mineral. Well worth the drive to get there. They not only help identify the gems but also bag and label them so you will remember which is which when you get home. Best gem grubbing we have ever been to. Can't wait to get... More

We took our three grandchildren, ages 5,6 and 8, and had a great time. The staff was GREAT in showing the kids how to mine the gems. They even identified and labeled the stones. We'll be back next Summer!

Salted buckets and a place to stay! An interesting mountain drive gets you there. It was raining the day we came and prepare for mud. Surprising gift shop. Wouldn't expect the fine quality of jewelry made by locals. The owner is a facetor and very active in the gem community of Franklin, N.C. I got an excellent deal on a... More

My husband had visited this mine many years ago and wanted to bring us. He said not much had changed in all that time. We had a great time mining for gems. It was 10 dollars a person (if you dug your buckets) for 2 buckets. That kept us busy for about 2 hours in all. Make sure you dress... More
