This lake is a spectacular man-made reservoir where the old flooded town of Glenville is memorialized lovingly by a little museum (historic society) up on NC 106. I'm told of wonderful falls pouring into the lake but was unable to visit those this trip since unable to rent a boat for access as was described. Happ's Place (see review) is... More

We had a ball kayaking around the lake. Parked at the dam (really nice dock and beach area!) and kayaked down to the Baptist church. About 8 miles round trip. Next day we put in by the baptist church and kayaked to Hurricane falls. Falls at the very beginning of the lake. Accessible only by boat. Lucky man who lives... More

Lake Glenville is absolutely gorgeous. We rent nice pontoon boats from Trillium and always have a blast. It is a perfect ski lake. The water is gorgeous. The staff at Trillium is awesome.

I've already written a more, in depth review. However, as an update, the beach has been completed now. The new facilities are great. The bathrooms are the "storage" type, so nothing fancy. However, the beach is great for all ages. The depth of the swimming area is typically around 6 feet at the ropes during the summer months. You should... More

I've never even heard about this lake before this past Labor Day. It is a little gem tucked in the mountains in NC. We actually rented a house on the lake with a dock and sat out there and enjoyed the lovely weather and the great views. We rented a boat and had a blast tubing with the kids. The... More

Lake Glenville is three miles North of the Cashiers Crossroads at Highway 107 and 64. The lake is the highest lake at 3500ft East of the Mississippi. It has twenty six miles of shoreline. The lake is beautiful. Fed my natural streams and waterfalls, the recreational lake has a marina, Signal Ridge on 107 that has fuel, a well stocked... More

Lovely, lovely lake. Beautiful homes (some for rent to vacationers). Serene, lovely scenery, not crowded. Definitely a bit secluded - wonderful week's stay here.

Agree with all the other TA reviews. Lovely lake near Cashiers, NC. Big and pristine. And the water warms up nice! If you're in the area, definitely check it out.

Lake Glenville aka Lake Thorpe on some maps is the highest elevation lake (3500 feet) east of the Rockies. It is quite clear and deep. We measured 30-60 feet minimum in most channels. It is managed by Duke Power via a dam and is ringed by houses. It also contains two state parks with put in areas and Signal Ridge... More
