Our walk through the woods with winding trails, offering observation of differing natural habitats was sweet. The trails are well cared for, soft, cushiony supported by a soft wood chip base. Woods walk area is natural Appalachian plants, scrubs and trees preserving the natural habitat of this region. Lake, bog, wooden bridges and streams all weave together is provide a... More

The Nature Center is situated a few blocks down Main Street from the hustle and bustle of shopping and eating. The moment you walk in, you are amazed. Nature galore. Fun interactive displays, lots of animals, a beautiful nature trail and friendly, educated "guides". People of all ages will have a special time and learn something about the huge diversity... More

Amazing variety of plants, well identified, plenty of space for walking, and a lake-side picnic spot. The Nature Center has an especially interesting snake identification display. Very useful. Ideal in Spring when there are more blossoms. We will go back next month.

A nice moderate walk up to Sunset Rock which overlooks the town of Highlands. Especially nice at sunset!

I've visited the botanical gardens at various seasons throughout the last few years. This is a terrific place, and Highlands is fortunate to have it so closeby. Great opportunities for photos, and each time of the year has its own unique look/feel. I also purchased the book "Highlands Botanical Garden, A Naturalist Guide" by James Costa and Ralph Sargent. It... More

We were pleasantly surprised at how nice this nature center is and how extensive the gardens and nature trails are, so much so that we went there twice. Don't miss the exhibits inside, not only do they have a few live animals but they have excellent information on bees and other animals in the area. You can spend as much... More

First off my husband and I had a hard time finding the Botanical Gardens. Once we found it the attraction was a bit disappointing. We wanted to see lots of flowers and there were not many at all. It was more like a hike in the woods. We did visit the pond which is filled with very large snapping turtles... More

I am so glad that we decided to visit the gardens...it was unexpected. I have often wondered what plants I am seeing along the trails and now I know many of them. What started as a quick visit before dinner turned into 1 1/2 hours of exploring the beautiful wooded paths. The BOG was lovely.

Great place to visit more than once. If you have kids it is an educational place for them, but I always learn something as well. If you living in nature, why not know more about what's living around you. The docents are all very knowledgeable. The walk through the Botanical Gardens is really beautiful and often times you can be... More
