This is a North Carolina State Park. Great hiking and a nice visitor center center. You can hike as far as you want without big crowds.

We arrived 09:30 Saturday morning on a sunny cool day in May 2017. Not too crowded at this time and the hike was not bad. Got just slightly steeper near the end of the hike (a little over 4 miles round trip) but not bad...More

Went here while visiting Charlotte for a short hike. It is very close to uptown Charlotte and has easy, short, rewarding hikes. Would recommend if visiting Charlotte.

This park has several excellent hiking trails, which are extremely well maintained and marked with color rings on trees. We took the pinnacle trail, which is 4 miles round trip and it took us 1.5 hours. Most of the trail is shaded. The trail is...More

Very nice place for a relaxing hike. Various trails with different degrees of difficulty. I would recommend going early as to avoid lots of traffic!

I just went hiking there today carrying my 5 month old, it was definitely tiring! We did the 2 mile (one way) hike to the highest peak, and it does say strenuous. I was very worn out, but rested at the top and made it back... More
What is the best hiking trail to take with a 4 year old? Biggest concern is to have easy footing, especially on the way down.
