We love going here everytime we visit Burghead. It is run by volunteers who have a vast knowledge of the area and its history. Set up for seeing the wildlife and all the historic buildings from the Pictish times to modern times. Lovely carved stones...More

We dropped by when a dig of the Pictish fort was taking place and when a whale and porpoise watch was on. So we got lucky. The little visitor centre is informative and helpful. No whales but we saw a meadow pit and linnets

If one could put a viewpoint in the most lucrative place, fill it with enthusiastic, knowledgeable volunteers and a plethora of information about the surrounding area and wildlife this would be it. The saying the best things come in small packages was made for this.
