Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great course of 9 nine holes, well designed to blend into the mountain setting. Offers senior discounts, accommodates beginners and seasoned players as well. Mid week is great but there are some says with organized groups so call ahead. Friendly staff, small selection at pro shop but all you need for a great golfing day is right here.
From the town website: The Lake Lure Golf Club is a great nine-hole course offering a challenging golf game amidst the beautiful scenery of Hickory Nut Gorge at the southeastern end of town.
The course is open year round and has a clubhouse, paved parking area, cart storage building, driving range and two putting greens.
The course is located at the southeastern end of town along US64/74. It sits on a 235-acre tract of land owned by the Town of Lake Lure.
From the white tees, this course is 2,738 yards for nine holes and par 35.
The course underwent a major renovation in 2010 to return it to its original design and playing condition. There are no tee times at this course.

I have played this course for 9 years and it continually challenges me. At first you think this course is easy. Then after a couple times playing, you realize how challenging it can be. Try to get par on #8. Just getting your ball on the green is an accomplishment. #3 is my hardest to reach in 2.
Usually not crowded and the staff (Dale, Kathy and Robert) are about as friendly and helpful as it gets. If you need a lesson, please ask Dale.
If this is your first time, take a cart. The hills are killers.
They also have "foot golf" so if soccer is something you like, give foot golf a try.

I have been to Lake Lure several time with my Retired Military Golf Group, we play Bald Mountain and Apple Valley golf courses, They are always in top shape spring or fall. The condo's are well kept and great for our needs. The lake trip is a great adventure for the family and the entire area is beautiful, many things to see and do.. We are planning another trip for our fall golf outing...

This is the municipal course. It is not on par with Bald Mountain and Apple Valley. It was a fun course to play. Not as well maintained as I anticipated

This is a really fun Golf Course, run by a wonderful couple. They treat all guests like family. We had our 2 Grandkids here (boys ages 10 & 12) for a few days, and included a few hours here - for both "Kick" (soccer) Golf, and some regular golf.
The cost is modest, and the fun superb.

A golf club with beautiful surroundings and friendly staff. Keep an eye out for the bear. A must if you're in the area.

While I don't know who Donald Ross is I do know that the FootGolf course was fun. My son and I had a blast playing. The nine hole course was great. We had so much fun playing this as we are both soccer fans. The only negative is that the holes are not numbered. You should try this!

The couple who manage this golf course are a real treasure. Early in the week we spent at Lake Lure we stopped at the pro shop to check out the course. They recommended we take one of their golf carts and look around. So, we carefully drove down along the side of the first two holes. That was enough to convince us to return a couple days later and play the nine-hole Donald Ross designed course. It is well kept, especially for a public course and the green fees are very reasonable. We really enjoyed out round and hope to play it again on a return trip from our home in VA.

this 9 hole muni was designed by the great Donald Ross as an 18 hole course but the depression hit and that was that. it's a bit rough around the edges but offers the hallmark challenges of a Ross course: bad shots are punished, good shots are rewarded. Kathy, the lady we dealt with, is a sweet person. And the beer was stunningly cold. A good thing, too, because it was hotter than hell. We played it twice, once from the blues and once from the whites.
