In a few words: a majestic mountain, interesting (if small) museum with geological exhibits, a wildlife centre/sanctuary, the Mile High Bridge and (sometimes) fantastic views. On the day we visited (25 Sept 2018), it was very misty, and that made the Mile High Bridge so...More

If coming through this beautiful area plan to stop here for a couple of hours. The small zoo is nice, but hanging out on the top of this mountain, you can find peace. The view is breathtaking and unbelievably quiet.

Must do in northwest NC. Be aware high winds could close top access. When that happens, they have a discounted admission. Can see us going back just to experience it again.

Great place to visit, it was cold and too windy but the nice part is special music was produced when the wind blew through the swinging bridge bars.
