Mt Airy Museum of Regional History

Enjoyed this small museum. Gives a good history of the area from the indians forward; interesting pictures. Worth the visit.

I'll just say first that I'm not a museum buff at all- I have somewhat of a limited tolerance for that much history, but this one had enough variety of exhibits and some hands on stuff for the kids that I liked it a little bit. There was enough actually stuff to look at (as opposed to pictures and writings)... More

Museum has 3 levels and at a $6 price tag make sure you don't miss it. Worth the price and your time.

This one gem repaid the ten dollars we spent on our horse and wagon tour tenfold. Without the knowledgeable folks aboard that wagon, we probably never have known that this delightful museum even existed. Within, the exhibits seem to us to convey the Mayberry spirit so much better than the cardboard cutouts of Andy and Barney. Two charming and gracious... More

Have visited several times, never tire of going. It's three floors and just spectacular items and information available. Self guided so you can look all you want to. Staff is very friendly and the price is reasonable.

Very interesting place to visit. It is 3 floors of history of this area of North Carolina. We even saw a picture of a friend in the Blues section. His name is Neal Pattman and he was a one arm harmonic player. I have memories and a CD with Neal's music

Outstanding displays of local history including the people, culture, geography, and economy of the area. Railroad exhibit, old cars, and firetruck display are particularly good! Must see!

This is a surprisingly large museum for this little town with information on prehistory, the granite industry, local history and of course Mt. Airy's four most famous people: Andy Griffith, Donna Fargo and Chang and Eng.

We actually went in wanting to see where the Andy Museum was. The man that greeted us was more than happy to tell us. He also told us about what was inside this museum. He told us enough that got our interest up not to mention the kids. It was really interesting. The kids loved the hands on things they... More
