We hiked out on the dunes on a rainy, windy day. The park is unique and picturesque! We didn't see the wild life, but we did see animal tracks. Fun walk for families!

One summer day in 1972, Carolista Fletcher Baum stood firmly in front of the lead bulldozer threatening to flatten the East Coast’s tallest sand dune. After several hours of a stalemate, the operator turned it off and left. Sometimes, that's all it takes. Carolista passed...More

This was a wonderful surprise. Part the entrance many times but this was our first visit. Well laid out information boards and information on the dunes. Good facilities and parking. If an English couple read this, some of their travel documentation was found there yesterday.

Two options, an easy stroll on wooden boardwalk, or climbing tallest sand dune on the east coast. Best to go early, as it can get hot on the climb. Beautiful view of the ocean and the sound.....

If you visit this area and don't go to the sand dunes at Jockeys Ridge you are missing something special! It costs nothing to get in. You walk quite a ways through the sand and small bodies of water until you get to the big...More

Good for hiking, a slow stroll, or Kite Gliding for the adventuresome. Instruction and rentals available. Think the Wright Brothers.. Excellent ocean and sound views from top. Woods nearby for additional exploration.. Ample parking.

While doing R&D, it did not look like promising to me, but we went there. Glad I came as first, we thought it was okay but its more than that. After passing visitor center, you need to get down and take walk on the sand...More

We got there right at 8:00 a.m. with the kids' boogie boards. They did not work at all and we dragged them in the heat. The kids were scorching down the dunes and got no traction whatsoever. Not sure if the sand wasn't dry... More

I didn't see any pathways suitable for strollers. If you can put your toddler in a backpack. Will take maybe 10-15 minutes
