Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We took a Dolphin tour today out of Manteo, on the Miss Bodie Island! Captain Hector and Katie were fantastic, very knowledgeable about the dolphins and all the marine science was presented in a very fun way for all the kids and adults on board! Would highly recommend they gave us a fantastic trip and we saw a lot of the dolphins!

We had a wonderful time aboard the Miss Bodie Island. We saw at least a dozen dolphins very close. It was a bit windy and choppy out but the Captain had things well under control. First Mate was very knowledgeable about the marine environment around our tour, she gave a great overview of what types marine life we could find in the area. They did some salinity testing and let the kids participate. Highly recommend for a family adventure.

It was a great time! It was very obvious that both Capt Hector and Julia were very knowledgeable on dolphins as well as other marine animals and the Outer Banks as a whole. We saw lots of dolphins (including some babies) all around the boat, an Osprey nest, pelicans, and some landmarks of the Outer Banks (Jockey’s Ridge, replica of the Queen Elizabeth II, etc.) They were able to answer all of our questions and even get the kids involved with testing the water. Overall, we were very satisfied and I highly recommend!

Our tour guide was John, who is a marine biologist. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and the dolphins. He even involved children on the boat with his water testing for the day! They learned how to measure for the amount of salt in the water, wind speed, etc. We saw a loon, double crested cormorants, egrets, pelicans and a lone adolescent dolphin. For the grand finale we saw a nursery of dolphins where we saw mothers, grandmothers and several calves. I highly recommend scheduling a time on one of their tours. You won’t regret it!

The dolphin watch was an amazing experience! We went on the 4pm tour and saw SO MANY DOLPHINS. I couldn't even tell you how many dolphins we saw! We had many close encounters where the dolphins came right up to the boat, and we saw lots of cool behaviors including some really exciting tail-slapping! We saw dolphins continuously for almost the entire trip once we reached the sound! The guide was super enthusiastic and informative, and the customer service through Kitty Hawk Kites was fabulous. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who is going to be visiting the Outer Banks!!

Great couple of hours on the Miss Bodie Island with Capt Hector and Abby, Saw a couple of dolphins as soon as we left the dock. Went for a nice boat ride and found a larger group off Wanches. Abby was great with providing information and Hector found the dolphins. A fun trip!

This was by far the best dolphin watching experience we have had. The guide was very knowledge and gave just enough information to make it enjoyable without being overload. She was excellent with the children on board and answered all their questions. The boat was easy to board and big enough that you could move around when it was stopped and not feel crowded. We enjoyed the tour while looking for dolphins in the various areas and then the culmination of finally finding them. It was a very enjoyable time and would definitely recommend this company. It was also very convenient that they had tours on Saturday.

We had a wonderful and relaxing day on the boat looking for dolphins. We had to cruise out further than they usually go but the ride was great. Once we got there, the dolphins did not disappoint. All the kids and adults seemed to enjoy the show. The guide was very knowledgeable and the captain did a great job. Only thing I would maybe change is the sound system. It was hard to hear the guide while the boat was moving but it's not a deal breaker. I would recommend this trip to everyone!!

The woman running the tour was a marine biologist so she knew her stuff. The kids got to take environmental readings and talk science with her while waiting to see the dolphins. We were fortunate to see a large group gathered together. We enjoyed the boat ride enough that even if we didn't see any dolphins we would have been fine. We took lots of videos and were able to eat/drink on the boat (pack your own.)

Do they have child life jackets or should I bring my 3.5 year olds one from home?
Written 18 April 2019
They should have the appropriate vest. Id call just to make sure. And still bring yours.

Yes, I would suggest you go before you get on the boat. No comforts, just the bare bones water closet.

What are the prices for the dolphin watch tour?
Written 3 September 2017
When we went it was $29 for adults. If you get the Sunny Day Guide, you can find this publication at any rental location and at most businesses, there are coupons or sometimes discount rates on different days listed. You can call Kitty Hawk Kites adventure for specific rates. It is well worth the price. I hope you go and have a GREAT time.

Do they allow strollers on board and is there a best time to go with four children 1 to 6 years old?
