Stopped in just to learn a bit more about this gem of an island. Staff was helpful and friendly, bought the local cookbook. Fell in love with the fig cake here. Had to have the recipe and was told it was the same one. Now...More

If you want to learn the history of Ocracoke Island, this is worth the stop. It is not a "high end" museum, but very nice to see it from the island "people's" perspective. Worth a stop if you want to know about the island.

If you any interest in the history of Ocracoke, this museum can answer a lot of your questions. Well organized, nice gift shop. It's pretty obvious the management has done a lot to make this little gem a "must see".

Lots of information about the island, weather, history. Accept donations. The staff is well informed and helpful. A beautiful period house, amazing that it has survived all the years and weather

Small and informative. Nice little tape that tells about Ocracoke and the people that live there. It's informative and interesting. Worth the stop.

There's a lot here in a small space. It's very worthwhile for those wanting to better understand life on Ocracoke before it was invaded by tourists.

Small well-done museum which talks about the history of the island and life over the years. Gives you a feel for the island way of life and the independence of the people who settle away from the mainland and depended on mail boats and ferries...More

Really cool video on the brogues of NC and the history of the area. It has a nice location, so you can walk there from the ferry area.
