We came for the rock climbing and hiking and the park exceeded expectations in every way. Great facilities, great trails, and some amazing views in all directions. Be aware that the park is very popular and they limit capacity, so be sure to get there early to visit the summit.

We kept seeing a "knob" on top of a mountain everywhere we drove. We finally asked someone local and he encouraged us to visit the Pilot Mountain State Park. The drive was amazing with breathtaking views as we kept going up, up, up! If you are afraid of heights the drive may be a bit challenging at first but there... More

We stopped here for a morning hike as we were on our way driving to Hilton Head. We stopped in the park office to ask which trails would be best for our young kids (ages 7, 5, and 3) and they were very helpful in planning our hike. We walked along the Jomeokee Trail, Little Pinnacle Overlook Trail, and the... More

Absolutely beautiful! I'm slightly afraid of heights, so this marker on our trip to NC was a challenge at first. But the natural beauty it shows was enough temptation to bring me to the edge, literally. The view is one of a kind and even though it was chilly outside it was more than worth the time to see!

We recently visited on a mild sunny January day and the park was wonderful. In winter you can really see everything and the light shining through the barks of the trees was really beautiful. Even better, it was quiet with only a few visitors so you could really appreciate it. It is well worth doing the short hikes to Little... More

A beautiful mid-February morning and I decided to check this place out with my dog (it's dog friendly if you keep your dog on leash) since I live only 40 minutes away and had never been in ten years. Wow! I'm glad I did. Suggestion: Check in with the base camp if you will be hiking a trail. It's the... More

People from all over the United States visit this attraction, many from North Carolina. The top knob sticks out and is a great photo op. Take a picnic. Spend the day hiking, bird watching, wandering. It's just a fantastic place to go.
