An absolutely great place to slide on natural rock and land in a pool of cold crisp mountain waters, get out and do it again! Easy access, ease of parking, fresh mountain air, cold trout waters, near the Blue Ridge Parkway and Brevard, North Carolina. Sometimes the rock is a little rough so you will recognize the locals as they... More

I bet this was a bustling area in the summer but there were a couple brave soles sliding down in the cold. Neat to see an old swimming area like this still used by so many.

We stopped by to show our kids Sliding Rock. The area is open for viewing in the winter, but not sliding. It was a stark difference from the summertime, when it's covered with people sliding down. It's very peaceful in the winter and very beautiful, worth a stop to see when no one is there.

Definitely too cold this time of year but what a great little stop. Easy to get to and in summer I bet its super busy. Great photo op for kids.

It use to be a free attraction several years ago, but now there is a small fee. Must be because of the large crowds that come come to see Sliding Rock.

Pretty place to visit even if it's too cold to slide - parking is free off-season (restrooms closed), and it's an easy walk over to view the rock and the stream below.

No crowds in winter, but great scenery! Stopped here after Looking Glass Falls and we were only ones there.

Sliding rock was is one of those places that you'll never forget. I went several times between the ages of 6 and 17 and then a few times over the last 10 years. It was incredible fun and a memorable family experience.

Great for kids, they do charge a nominal fee. The area is extremely beautiful, and is easily assessable.

Sliding Rock is just a few miles off of the Blue Ridge Parkway, and a detour that I highly recommend . It is a natural water Slide that is not only fun, but different each time you go down. Because of the rocks underneath you along with the natural , you get a different "ride" down each time. Only problem... More
