I loved this walk. Super easy and walking next to the stream was nice.
My boys all had a dip in the spring mountain water but it was cold? !
Easy peasy walk, all flat. You walk next to the stream.
We started our walk at the Oxygen Bar place, this walk can also connect you to the actual Avatar walk. You need to take the steps up but it’s all well signposted.
We well kept, clean and has places to buy food and drinks.
There are lots of monkeys too so be aware !

Took my parents here for a walk after a long day on top of the mountains. Even though it's close to mid November, the trail is still very lush. If you enter from the original Zhangjiajie National Forrest Gate, you pretty much walk down the stream, so it's a really easy walk, even if you bring young children or the elderly, they would not have any problem. The water is clear and the trail is peaceful, and the spires and the peaks around the brook make this place really special. There a lot of monkeys along the trail. Some are used to eat snacks from the tourists, and they become aggressive. I saw monkeys robbing tourists a few times by grabbing their bags and unzip the pockets, and they tend to go after female tourists. Please do not feed them!

A beautiful walk that's located near the bus stop; just follow the crowds. Wear shoes that keep you comfortable during very long walks. Double up on socks if they're thin. Bring two large water bottles (we brought two 1.5L bottles) as the entrances and exits are spaced apart. We ended up walking for about 1 hour along the stream, including photo and relaxing time.
There are key restrooms dotted near paths where they split to different locations. Mostly clean but you will need to bring toilet paper and hand sanitiser, if you haven't got them already.
Along the path there is the Longevity Spring where you can refill your water bottle for free. We've both had a drink from it and didn't get sick.
There are fishes in the deeper sections of the river that are relaxing to watch and plenty of photo opportunities (make sure your batteries are fully charged. So many nice photo spots!).
It is a long walk and leads you to the stairs which take you up to near the tops of the mountains or you can opt to walk to the elevator.
Worth it, especially for nice photos. Such a charming and beautiful place if you can ignore the slow moving crowds. We came mid-week from 9am until 5pm and found it tolerable.

If you have seen Yuanjiajie or Tianzi Mountain in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, the view in this site is just ok. We just did a one hour walking in the valley along the river, a relaxing place.

Of the three days we had in Zhangjiajie this was the least inspiring place we visited. It is lovely but maybe because it was our last day we had already seen enough so it was nothing new? Not sure but as we hiked around for a couple of hours we were thinking we just wanted to go back to the hotel.

Great place for a quiet walk along the river, but you should walk about an hour away from the main centre where most of the tourists stay.
If you walk along the river you will find a set of steps and if you up to it (2505 steps) you can walk all the way to the top of the Yuanjiajie Scenic Spot.

This was very pretty in autumn with many of the trees having turned yellow. The trail starts at the second bus stop from the main entrance. It is a flat, easy walk that can be completed in 1.5 hours if you walk briskly but I took my time and did it over 3-4 hours. There are some stops where you can get food. As others have mentioned, there are quite a lot of monkeys but I actually found them much less aggressive than monkeys I have encountered elsewhere. At the end of the walk was a park where there were a few red trees with maple-like leaves which made for great photos. After contending with the crowds at Tianmen and Zhangjiajie mountains, this was a lovely, tranquil experience. At both ends of the walk there are more people but the middle portion is very quiet.

i was on a tour and given one hour to visit this place.
it's not a big area unless you want to hike all the way up to the mountain, i saw the entrance here.
there are many monkeys here, dont get me wrong, they are cute (unlike the ones in hk are fierce), however, what i don't like about is people's quality. They keep feeding the monkey and the monkey will end up depend on food from tourist, and later on, they will attack the tourist who hold a plastic bag or look like they have food. i am not exaggerating, this is true experience in HK. i hope they have some staff to stop stop people from doing this.

We had a wonderful time walking along the Golden Whip Stream in ZJJ National Forest Park. You can easily spend an entire day here, lots to do and see. We trekked for a few hours and fell in love with this place. It was a relaxed stroll... We enjoyed tree bathing and just for fun kids caught a few river shrimps (just to check the box). The stream flows below the floating mountains, so you can see how amazing the natural beauty is.
You need to wear comfortable shoes and also be on the look out for wild monkeys. Though they don't harm you they are scavengers, looking closely at your bag-pack for any shiny object (plastic bags with food). So avoid carrying any food in the open, unless its in the bag. Don't keep any shiny wrappers, candy etc. as they will get taken away.
You needn't carry water since there is a market, so you can buy juice or water and also some food (if you fancy local snacks). Sit back, relax and enjoy nature !

We made a stop at Golden Whip Brook while at ZhangJia Jie National Park.
It gets a little crowded as it usually is in China, but you can do the following in less than 30 mins:
1. Cross the main bridge to the other side (where there are some food stalls)
2. Walk upward, against the stream. There are many monkeys living here - don't get too close.
3. You come to a small waterfall and there is a lovely stone bridge (actually a series of square shaped stones that allow you to walk across the stream).
4. The area here is good for wading in the water. The water is clean, very cool and refreshing - esp for tired feet. And the stones have a therapeutic effect on your feet.
I'd say, make a stop here if you have time on your hands, but it's not a major "must see" place within the sprawling Zhang Jia Jie National Forest Park.
