Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Tianzi Mountain or Tianzishan is located in the north of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park part of the Wulingyuan Scenic Area of Zhangjiajie.
Here you can view the four wonders of clouds, moonlight, sunset and winter snow.
Visited here on Sunday, 10 March 2024 and it's crowded with domestic China tourists.
Recommended to take the Tianzi Mountain Cableway (cable car) which is the longest and highest cable car in Wulingyuan.

We were so very lucky that we had a perfectly clear day for our trip up the mountain. Three days earlier it had rained heavily. Arrived at the tourist area where you catch a local bus to the cable car up 1370 to the naturally formed plateau mountain. Then hop onto another local bus for about a 20 ride to where the walks commence. Walked up and down steps around the edge of the plateau where there are numerous lookout points for stunning views of the towering sandstone pillars and peaks. There were so many awesome sights that our camera never stopped clicking. This area seems to be the most visited scenic spot as there were hundreds of tourists wandering around and some viewing areas were very congested. There are restaurants and small stalls along the way. Our local guide was so thoughtful that he had us walking in the right direction to take the advantage of the light and sun for the best photos. Departure from the park was by way of the Bailong Elevator which is a glass elevator built onto the side of a huge cliff 330 metres high. It was an awesome trip down the mountain side.
Next day we climbed up the Huangshizhai scenic area of the park which was much more peaceful, fewer people and more relaxing wandering around the plateau and the sights were just as awesome.

On a cloudy and misty day we hiked to the top of tanzi and were rewarded with some mc nuggets, large fries and coke. Needless to say the luxury of a mcdonalds at the top of a mountain climb was a luxury we couldnt resist. Satisfied after our salty snack we wandered to the crowded viewing platforms, umbrellas out in force. This made it difficult to get around to each viewing platform, requiring one of two strategies - shield the face or get down low and go go go. Once we jostled to the front of the viewing platforms it was no wonder everyone was so excited to get a selfie. As it was a partially misty day some of the mountains actually appeared to be floating! Just like in avatar! Getting out of the park was hard work, the map we had was inaccurate and it was very busy on the paths. Regardless, well worth the visit, just dont expect a zen like experience at the top.

I STRONGLY suggest anyone wanting to visit to look into the best time to do so. After coming ourselves in early July I’m certain that this time of year is NOT.
We were in the area for 3 days and had only one half of one day where the weather was ok and the fog lifted enough to actually see the scenery we came to see.
The first day was the day at this park and it was fog central. Hopefully you will have better luck!

Tianzi was the leader of a revolt in China who ultimately failed in his conquest. After he failed, he rode his horse off the cliffs at Tianzi, and so the mountain got its name.
Tianzi Mountain is one of the best places in Zhangjiajie National Parks with spectacular views of the mountain pillars. I personally enjoyed Tianzi mountain more than Avatar mountain, and would highly recommend the effort taken to visit this place. There is a restaurant and a McDonalds on site.

We went to Tianzi Mountain on 11 September 2014 by tour group. During breakfast on that day morning, we heard from some tourists that they went Tianzi Mountain and Yuan Jia Jie, they could only see clouds and fog. The beautiful view had been covered by clouds and fog. When we reached Ten Mile Gallery. We took sightseeing train. The sky was clear. We could see clouds floating around the mountain peaks. Then we adjourned to the Avatar scene. Next we went to Tianzi Mountain. When we reached Tianzi Mountain, we were fortunate the weather was so good that we could witness the clouds floating around the magnificent straight-up mountain peaks with small trees growing on them just like Chinese Arts. It is spectacular wonderful landscape. It was also near to the sunset. So it added on to the beauty.
