Amplify your 'learn to surf' experience with the best 'Instructor to Student' ratio of any Surfing England surf school. Smaller group sizes means our coaches can give you more attention in a safer environment to speed up the learning process. We run daily surf lessons suitable for everyone aged 5 to 80, from complete beginner to competitive professionals, school groups to group parties using in water teaching, classroom theory lessons, video analysis and surf skate sessions. We want you to enjoy surfing as much as we do, so whether you've never stood on a board before or have been doing it for years, we want to help you progress to your full potential. We also pride ourselves on being Coasteering specialists and run daily excursions. All equipment provided with onsite changing facilities, toilets, and hot showers. Enjoy a warm drink, cold beer, hot pasty or tasty ice cream from our cafe after your surf. Find us @Baggys, overlooking the beach.

A weekend of surf lessons for a mixed ability and age group. The ‘book 3 lessons over a weekend’ deal was good value. As advertised the student/ instructor ratio never exceeded 6:1.
Great location on the Freshwell camping site right at the North side of the bay and just 3 minutes or so walk from the sand. Conveniently located next door to the Ocean Pitch camp site where we stayed and a choice of parking options nearby.
Damon the owner was always helpful when communicating by phone. Originally scheduled for April the trip was understandably postponed due the COVID situation, but arranging a credit and rebooking was smoothly handled and no issue at all.
The two instructors for the weekend Harvey and Ben were clearly knowledgeable and took us all through the initial stages of learning to surf. Everyone enjoyed the thrill of catching their first waves or building on their existing experience. We joined the standard group which was up to 12 people (with 2 instructors) which was a great introduction to the sport. As we progress probably paying for a private group or even one to one tuition would give the instructor more time to focus on your own personal goals, but for our current level and as an introduction the group session worked fine.
Really has a great time! For this middle aged guy who’s waited 20 years to learn to surf it was everything he hoped it would be, and everyone in our group of adults and teenagers had a great time. We’ll definitely be back for lessons 4 and beyond and board hire.

I booked 3 surfing lessons for my partner as part of his birthday present and the guys were brilliant in tailoring their instruction to suit his age and 'body size'. Even in the lashing rain and wind they stayed really enthusiastic and encouraging.
Apologies for not remembering the instructors name with the long blonde hair but I want to thank him personally for all the effort and encouragement he showed, he was awesome!

I had a one to one surf lesson August 2020. Damon took time to listen and understand what I was after, not just standing up on a surfboard as a holiday experience but to actually understand enough to progress and self coach. Damon equips you to understand what went wrong and correct it the next time. The rate of improvement was impressive given my utter lack of talent and ability. All the usual kit is provided, however the boards Damon uses are not just the average massive lumps of foam that don’t ride very well but you can stand on. Surfing Croyde Bay use decent boards that ride better, are lighter to carry and last longer so they’re not just going to landfill after a season or two. They clearly love what they do and their enthusiasm is so infectious you can’t fail to have a great experience and learn a lot.

Another fantastic couple days with the team at Surfing Croyde Bay. No crowds on the beach mid week at this time of year and got super lucky with the weather. 2 great sessions with Albie. Getting out beyond the break catching unbroken waves a real buzz and given I’m a late 50’s novice doing so after only 5 sessions total with these guys must be testament to the quality of the coaching on offer and the instructor to student ratio. Max 6 students per instructor. Now I just need to work on my balance to avoid making a fool of myself having done all the hard work... reach for the beach! Off the water the school’s licensed cafe still has the best coffee, great food and a sunny terrace with views across the bay. The Dahl of the day was a lunchtime treat. The quality of the facilities is excellent, so overall this must be one of the best facilities in the country. As per an earlier review, if you are looking for surfing tuition in Croyde I suggest you look no further. Well done all.

Great location with parking.
Friendly welcoming committee who put young children at ease and quickly built a rapport.
Boden and Nathan were great on the beach and in the water and did well to work effectively with our family of 6 and ages ranging from 5 to 45+.
A fun, fulfilling and memorable family day at Croyde. Thanks guys.

Surfing in the rain - A fantastic experience of first time surfing with my 10 yr old son. Ben & Joe our instructors clearly enjoyed their job and their enthusiasm was catching. The rain & hail only added to the experience making it even more memorable. Ben was brilliant with Harry really building his confidence so much Harry returned the next day for another lesson. They were patient, experienced and happy to let you do as much (or in my case) as little as you wanted. All equipment provided and added bonus Baggy Lodge cafe does great food but card only. We will be back next year , only one warning the walk back with the surfboard feels a lot longer on the way back!

Great surf school!
Booked a couple of sessions with SCB for myself and my 13 year old son during our holiday in North Devon this year and our first time surfing at Croyde.
As we both had surfed a little prior to our visit, we received some separate tuition and tips which were more suited to our level and all lessons were professionally delivered.
We both go home to Northumberland with a few new manoeuvres to practice before our return next year!
I was greatly impressed by the high level of tuition and advice that was provided and would highly recommend this surf school to either beginners wanting a fun session or more intermediate surfers wanting to improve.
Extra shout out to our trainers Damon, Evo and Seb. These guys along with all other the staff really know their Sh*t and I can’t recommend Surfing Croyde Bay enough.
Thanks again and we’ll definitely be back in the near future.

Excellent Surf School - spent 2 days learning's to surf and can highly recommend.
Albi is a top instructor and goes the extra mile to help, picking up little things that go towards making things a lot easier - the the rest of the team are also highly recommend.

AMAZING!!! Had a late afternoon coasteering session with Sam and Jake around Baggy Point. They were so encouraging and supportive, which really helped as I was nervous and doing it by myself in a group of others! The route was really fun, and provided different options if you didn't feel up to jumping the biggest ones! I was lucky enough to be with an amazing group of people too, who were all really good with the moral support! Wetsuits, helmets and lifejackets were provided for us. Such a good experience, and both instructors made me feel really safe and comfortable doing something completely new. This was my favourite activity of the holiday, and I would recommend to anyone seeking some adventure, and if I get another opportunity I would 100% pick this company again! Thank you so much!

Had a fantastic time during our surf lesson. The team are very supportive but also very relaxed, which made it great fun. Everyone in our session was able to stand up on our boards after a few goes, which included all ages from teens to 60 year olds. Would highly recommend.
