Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well didnt we fall in love with Amity.
Sweet small town perfect fit for a family holiday with pre teen children.
The jetty area was a great place to sit and unwind after a day exploring the island. Pack a picnic, swimmers and fishing rods and make the most of watching the sunset over Brisbane City.
We booked our house through Straddie Sales and Rentals. Girls there were super helpful

This beach at low tide would have to be one of my favorites and I've been around. Strewn with logs the gently curved protected bay joins onto flinders beach as you walk around the bend. At one end it starts at a Carpark where the rock wall which goes all the way to the jetty starts. There's no waves but it's sensible to act like a merest here because of no nets etc

Amity Point Campground is a great place to camp. The beach is nice and quiet, there's a swimming net to keep any sharks at bay (!). If you have a boat, it's great to venture out to the various islands (Crab Island, Moreton Island). There's a jetty you can fish on, although the dolphins do scare them away. And yes there are dolphins that come round the jetty, and you can see them come very close by. There's a nice restaurant down the street called
There's a nice restaurant near Amity Point called Seashells at Amity which is a great place to have lunch or dinner.
The only downside of the camping group at Amity Point I would say is the tents and people camping are squeezed up close, so it can get noisy. Also those streetlights shine all night long and your tent glow an orange glow inside at night time.

We decided to walk along the beach from Amity Point to Point Look-out. It was longer than we anticipated! About 12 km, which took us about 4 hours. We were prepared for hiking and had food, water and sun cream with us, as it can become warm in the sun even on a cooler day.
It is an easy walk along the water line and we enjoyed being splashed by waves. The water was very clear and we saw fish in the waves at times.
Most of the time we were on our own on the beach, but at times, we met fishermen and there were several people camping about at about the 1/2 way point, with families, dogs and fishermen but we were told it was 4WD (or walking) access only to the beach.
In one section, before Point Look out, we had no choice but to walk through thigh deep water (as the tide was in).
If you decide to do this walk, then be prepared that it is a long walk and you will need to take water and sun cream as there is only one exit back to the main road about 1/3 of the total distance.

Dreadful place facing due West. Hot, ugly. The place is flat and looks like a shanty town. The water was full of stingers and a bull shark travel route. See Jaws and the town of Amity, it was based on this backward, ugly, hot West facing place.

Great beach. Partially protected. Good sand with shade not far away - and it was needed over a week of bluesky 31C days

Away from the main town a little with calm waters.
Definitely recommend the camp grounds with a beach front view of they are available.

We wanted to know what was there. The camping is nicer than at Lookout Point but no big wave and it is more a village. Not very wild ocean feeling

I believe so. I'm not sure how much there is to see (ie. reefs etc.). Snorkeling on Moreton Island (just north) is very cool as they have ship wrecks there.
