We stopped off here after we went to the maze. The girl at the shop in the maze gave us a leaflet which gave us 10% off the entry fee to the house. There entrance to the house was stunning, there was a lovely man that greeted us at the door & gave us an information sheet about the home.... More

Worth the entry fee, the gentleman at the entrance provided detailed information on the home. History of each room is provided. Enjoyable visit

A Beautiful reminder of yesteryear grandeur. Good choice for main residence of australian film "Picnic at Hanging Rock". Well worth the drive.

I saw the Hall years ago, and just went again. It is magnificent. I don't know of anything comparable in SA. It has been very well maintained with all the rooms furnished from the period. We were able to wander freely, and take photos. We were asked not to use flash which wasn't a problem as the rooms were light... More

We visited here recently while staying in Clare. What a fabulous site! As you walk up to the entrance you can't help but be struck with the grandeur of the premises in what seems to be in the bush. The best thing about the site is you are free to wander throughout the house that feels as though its owners... More

A beautiful period residence well worth visiting when in the Clare Valley. Allow time to read and take in the history of both the property (including the standard of craftsmanship) and the past owners, as well as to view the rooms and their contents which are all very interesting. The young lady taking the entrance fee was also very helpful... More

A great snapshot of history that is well preserved. If you think the admission cost is high, consider the size of the property and the cost of upkeep. Do this and the admission cost is cheap ($10 ea if you have a receipt from the Maze, else $12ea). The artworks are great. The trophy room with all the souvenirs from... More

So it was built to attract the owner's intended to live in luxury in a new country. The luxury is obvious and the place has been very well maintained so the visit is well worthwhile. But no one in their right mind would live this far from anywhere particularly at the time it was built.
