Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Another fantastic experience at Rockford. We arrived without a booking but were warmly welcomed and kept updated on how long it would be until a tasting is available. After a short while, a spot was available and we were attended to by Ryan who was informative and engaging. He intuitively identified that we were not connoisseurs and tailored his comments accordingly. We appreciated this approach as it made us feel very comfortable. We left having gladly purchased several bottles of liquid gold!Rockford is a beautiful experience and a must do for anyone visiting the Barossa.

The Rochford Winery is located in Australia's top wine producing region, the Barossa Valley. Although the winery creates an impression of rustic simplicity, its superb wines are much in demand and fetch premium prices. If you want to purchase Rochford wines, get in early. If your restaurant has an extensive cellar, ask the sommelier if he can find a bottle for you.

Excellent cellar door at classic old school winery. Knowledgeable, friendly staff who took the time to talk you through the range of wines available for tasting. There was no charge for tasting which provides some indication how confident they are you will buy a bottle or 3.

My daughter and I visited Rockford Winery which we were told by several friends who own local vineyards is the number one wine in the Barossa Valley.
Not only are the buildings and surrounds a step back in history, the wine is, as we expected superb. One sparkling wine my daughter wanted was out of stock with the 2021 issue a work in progress, along with a few others.
The young lady who served us was a wealth of knowledge on wine, local history and the history of Rockford. Excellent at customer service.

Visited late in afternoon last week, we were party of 8 maximum allowed in cellar door at that stage. Very informative staff and great wines and beautiful old buildings. Another couple arrived so our 2 ‘drivers’ stepped outside and looked at old buildings, very interesting and not a problem to later rejoin the tasters. Left with more lovely Barossa wines- add this to your list of wineries to visit.

First of all, a disclaimer. I’m a Stonewall Club member and have been buying wines from Rockford for 26 years. The wines that Robert and his team have produced are simply outstanding and a true representation of the region. These days I reside in Queensland and enjoy the Alicante, Local Growers Semillon and Eden and Vine Vale Rieslings in the warmer months. But when the temperature dips I reach for their flagship Basket Press Shiraz, Rifle Range Cabernet or one of the blends (Rod & Spur or Moppa Springs) But for me, the Black Shiraz is the most versatile wine and the best example of Sparkling Shiraz in Australia. It accompanies all good celebrations, birthdays, weddings, Christmas lunch in my house. In fact opening a bottle of Black Shiraz is a celebration in itself.
As a Stonewall member, I feel privileged to have attended 3 Stonewall lunches in my time. If you ever have the opportunity, do NOT hesitate!! We were able to join the table again in September and the food and wine on show was simply outstanding!
Thank you to the whole team at Rockford that make visiting this winery and enjoying their products one of life’s great pleasures🍷❤️

We have many Rockford wines and Basket press is our cellar so we were excited to visit the winery.
However, when we arrived we stood at the bar and was served by a young girl. There was no history lesson of the winery, very little welcome, we were given the standard wine list and felt like we were a number during our 15 mins stay. We are not members despite holding many wines and we felt like they only gave attention to members. The whole experience came off as very arrogant and no interest in anyone who wasnt a member.
Without a doubt over our 4 day Barossa stay, the experience at Rockford was by far the worst and least engaging.
Spend time at Henschke, Hentley Farm, St Hugos or Torbreck instead. They take time to allow you to appreciate the history of the brand and love for the wine.

For years I never visited without carrying out two or more cases. During most recent visit tasted entire line (less Basket Press sold out as usual) and for first time ever found not a bottle worthy of purchase. Most disappointing for such an Australian icon

Had to wait just over 30 mins (due to Covid restrictions) to go in for tasting but was well worth it. The lady Paola was very knowledgeable and friendly while doing the tasting. The venue was very intimate with a small fire in the tasting room which was perfect on a cooler day. Lots of interesting information about the making of the wines.

Recommended by a friend to visit, so glad we did. Although we hadn't booked, they managed to fit us in, even though they were busy. Staff were extremely knowledgeable and full of information. They did not rush us and we were able to sample a number of their wines. Standout was their premium sparkling shiraz, don't think I will be able to save until Christmas. Highly recommend.

Hello, I would like to ask how much is the wine tasting? or the price per glass?
Written 6 November 2018
We were not charged for the wine tasting. It was one of our favorites and sorry we ran out of time to make a second trip there. The wines were very good!

I do winery tours, we book in advance and this is what is happening in the industry, people assume that can turn up with groups for a free drink and spoils the experience for you, though complaining about it being tight is not a fair comment, it is an old Heritage building, not designed for large groups , so unfair to be negative on a place offering free tastings in a Historic building so you get the feel of this historic gem.

I agree with you. We were a “two person” tour, had reservations, and then a group of maybe 15 folk arrived, and seemed to only want to drink. Think they were an extended family.
I have no answer to what seems to be a problem. Our lovely experience was cut very short.

Can I buy sparkling black shiraz in UK
Written 17 October 2017
We have Sparkling Shiraz export contacts that I can ask for you, please email your area post codes for us to calculate the shipping, are you after 6 bottles per order plus freight or more?

Are there any tours available from Adelaide's CBD which include visiting Rockford and having lunch there? There are only two of us so not enough to organise a private tour! Thank you.
Written 1 October 2015
Just for future reference, we can do private tours of 1 or more, do not loose the experience by joining others as it can take away the places you like to stay longer, please advise of your last years visit , I like to hear as I am a Wine Tour company (small) 4 vehicles
