Overview
More
The first wharf, built in 1894, was a wooden T shaped structure located at the northern end of the present steel and concrete jetty. The Jetty is a popular place from which to view the stunning sunsets over King Sound or to fish for silver cobbler, shark, golden grunter, north west salmon and mud crabs on the incoming tides. These tides are Australia's highest and the second highest in the southern hemisphere.

Sadly disused now - it was wonderful to witness the tide turning: Such a great expanse of sand and shallows , then quietly the waters began returning to the shores. Many mullet came with the first shallow waves of water, eagerly seeking the worms as...More

Honestly not exciting or picturesque, just a jetty on the mud flats, not commercially used anymore. Not far from town and it’s an easy walk along the jetty and return, careful as some of the railings on one side are broken and the other side...More

Tidal Differences in Derby are truly amazing, to experience the best of the tides they are best viewed over larger tides rather than neaps. Sunsets at the Jetty are also well worth the visit.

We were recommended this by the info centre. It was a completely low tide and didn't probably look as good as when high tide but well worth the walk out.

Take away food available at cafe/ restaurant. Interesting to go at high and low tide to experience the massive tidal difference. Plenty of parking plus public toilets and grassed area with covered shade seating.

Beautiful place, definitely take multiple visits to experience the incredibly difference between high- and low tide. Sunset is of course a must-do. Be sure to stay at the lovely restaurant attached as well.
