A wonderful, nostalgic, beautiful, carousel to ride, a train ride that even goes through a tunnel, great slides and climbing apparatus, swings, and picnic areas - what better way to spend time with your child or grandchild. Rides are only $.50 per person and entry to park is free.

Shelby Park is a great place to take the children, if you have several hours or just a few minutes you want run out of things to do. The Merry Go Round is absolutely Beautiful as well as the train. Swimming, golf, baseball, basketball all types of sports and entertainment plus a great place for a small or large picnic!

The City of Shelby has done a great job planning and keeping the Park. There is a pool, the golf course, playing fields, walking track, a carousel and a small train. It was clean, inviting and open.

I have lived here about 10 years! This park will exceed your expectations with a phenomenal Indoor Merry Go Round / Outdoor train for the kids / One of the finest Olympic Sized swimming pools. The park has recently expanded the baseball fields and host the Tarheel League Championship for past four years or so. The park also has a... More

There are several ball fields, golf, carousel, swimming pools, and activity center. The pools are crowded in the summer. The carousel is always fun and hardly ever crowded.

Upon my bucket list request, my two daughters, son-in-law and two, young grandsons took me to the Shelby City Park to celebrate my 70th birthday. I LOVE carousels and this park has got a great one! In addition to the carousel, there was a small train ride that circled the three stationed playground. We took several rides on each and... More

Train was broke and bathrooms are to far from the playground. Other than that it is a very nice park.

A great time to visit the park is after a good snowfall. Lots of folk soar down the hill on anything from a sleigh to a garbage can lid.

The historic carousel is a major and unique attraction with appeal to all ages. In our late 60's, my wife and I loved the experience of riding the 90 year-old, hand carved, wooden horses for the old-timey price of 50 cents.
