We stopped by on our way through Sylva

Looks like a fun kid play area. I wondered of its safety with a man, who appeared homeless laying on the asphalt within the park. And another homeless man outside the park.

This is a fantastic playground for little ones. It is right on the river and just a minute from main street and has parking.

Great family fun!
Jul 2017 • Solo
Centrally located in Sylva with plenty of parking this is a family favorite for play and picnic time. During the summer you can combine your visit with music in the park on Friday nights!

Fun times
Feb 2017 • Friends
The Poteet Park is really neat for kids and a nice place for parents to hang while watching the kids. It is fenced in (however little ones still need watching) and has a covered area with picnic tables for lunch or small parties. The covered pavillion has two charcoal grills, vending machine and restrooms. The playground area has an expansive jungle gym (replica of the old courthouse which is the current JC Library) with swings and variety. There is a basketball court and a volleyball sanded area (bring your own net). There is entrances from both sides of the park so you can park and walk in or you can come in from downtown over the creek from Bridge Park. Great place for the little ones!

Fantastic place to play
May 2016
This is a wonderful playground for kids to run around & play while parents can watch from benches under big shade trees. It's located just across the bridge from the pavilion where concerts are held on Friday nights all summer long & the fantastic farmers market is held Saturday mornings.... A pretty short walk from downtown Sylva.
It's always popular with local families, and there are also covered picnic tables for lunch or birthday parties. The Sylva pool is next door, too. If you are traveling with young ones, definitely stop by!

Needs updating
Feb 2016 • Friends
This park is great (since it does have a pool nearby within walking distance) however, it needs to be updated! The equipment has been the same since i was a kid and that was 15-20 years ago. I take my 3 year old and I feel like the swings and stuff need new mulch underneath and swings updated for little kids.

A Great Playground Tucked Around the Corner!
Oct 2015 • Family
Poteet Park is a lovely little park that features an extensive playground system and a basketball hoop for older children. Everything is close at hand so parents can keep an easy eye on small children. It's clean and well kept, with a fun bridge that crosses Scotts Creek.

Not a good park for kids
May 2015 • Family
Mostly garbage pail teens, man-children, bums, loose women and other questionable types hang out here. I don't enjoy having my young children around cursing, drinking, smoking, making out, used condoms and other assorted unmentionables that children can pick up. We stay away from that place and go to Mark Watson, Cullowhee or any other place that is family friendly.
