First warmish day in early spring, took my preschool grand daughter to the estuarium. She loves fishing and the beach, so this was a natural. We were the only patrons, but still warranted a guided, interactive tour! The docents were well versed, friendly, and cheerful. The large variety of exhibits, lack of crowds, and number of hands-on activities made this... More

Took my grandson to the Estuarium for something to do Saturday and boy was I surprised! This was my first time visiting, in spite of having lived here for over 10 years! My grandson, who is 6, was absolutely enthralled! So much to see, so much to learn, so many different things to touch or hear! A wonderful video sets... More

Offers great education for any age and a fun stop along the water front. I only wish they had a touch tank with more local marine life. At only $5.00 per adult it's well worth the stop and the gift shop has some good shopping as well.

More fun outside than in. Beautiful location for weddings though. They do offer good programs throughout the year and a great gift shop. It is worth checking out but if you are looking for an outdoor/indoor museum type place 11 miles down the road is Goose Creek State Park.

We have moved out of the area to be with family in South Carolina but visited this venue many times when we lived nearby. Plenty of exhibits about the history of the region, and great for the whole family. A must see!

The Estuarium has interactive activities and displays to learn more about the importance of estuaries, like this one. Mixed with science and history, as well as outside displays of native flowers/plants and animals, it is a great place to spend with kids as well as adults. Check into the seasonal free rides on the river, reservations needed. Also has a... More

Small town museum worth visiting. Several exhibits have live animals that children will enjoy. Unique approach to show younger visitors their impact on surroundings.

A day trip for the family while we were visiting New Bern, NC. Geared more towards children, offered hands on experiences for small aquatic wildlife and education about coastal life over the past century or two. Just enough experiences to make the trip worthwhile and maintain children's interest. Price was fair. A nice little nautical themed playground nearby.
