A beautiful old home built in the 1850's and used by the Latimer family and now run by the Wilmington Historical Society this home is one of many beautiful old homes that dot the streets.Walk the three or four streets up from the river and towards the bridge and you will see many great old homes.

Another must see for anyone interested in history. Built in 1852 this home is a great example of the Victorian era. It is well furnished with period pieces..

Make sure you get the 3 house package deal, the lady that gave us the tour was very into this house, and you could tell she really enjoyed sharing the history of this house.

The Latimer House is truly a unique historic mansion - and you get a wonderful, up-close look (no ropes) at the home and the furnishings (including period clothing, family photographs, and even funeral jewelry!). The Docents (tour guides) relate fascinating details about the home's construction, the architecture, the Latimer family history, and the history of Wilmington during their lives. You'll... More

Although we turned up slightly late the guide allowed us to join in and catch up with the other couple so please note it's best to book ahead! There were lots of rooms to look at and the history behind each room and the family themselves was fascinating.

The house itself is rich with architectural detail. The colors brilliant and the thought that went into this house, amazing. Worth seeing if you... More

Our tour guide was knowledgeable and engaged. The house has a full variety of examples of lifestyle to include a prison. Especially impressed with example of Longleaf Pine wood.

I recently visited the Latimer House on a class field trip. The staff was incredibly informative and engaging, and the house was beautifully maintained. If you are into history, whether you are visiting or a Wilmington local, I would suggest checking out this historic house!
