Lovely and well-maintained cemetery of the Home Moravian Church. Dates back to the 1700s. Old Salem Cemetery is right next to it.

This is the most beautiful Easter Sunrise Service, held in Old Salem outside of Home Moravian church. The sound of the Moravian band playing near by, and another part of the band responding from a distance. Walking from town to the cemetery...God's Acre, to hear...More

We attended a grave side memorial service here and it is a very peaceful and serene place. Very well maintained. It feels dignified and real.

We walked through God's Acre during our visit to Old Salem. The grounds are well-kept. The gravestones are very clearly marked and easy to read, even some of the older ones. The Moravians who buried their dead here chose to use the flat gravemarkers instead...More

This is a peaceful place to go for solitude and enjoy the walk through nice paths with lots of large shade trees. This graveyard is nicely organized, so to speak. Lots of history to be found here with tons of very old graves.

everything is very organized but nothing really special here. I would walk uphill first and then back downhill so when you are tired you are walking downhill

Stopped here on a lovely fall day, wandered for quite a while. Enjoyed reading grave markers, some very very old. Well kept and lovely

This was a nice walk after the visit to the Home Church and Old Salem. The beliefs behind why the cemetery is the way that it is were explained in the church tour. It was also fun to find the first gravestone.

My favorite walks have been Spring and Summer evenings. Old Salem is an active, residential neighborhood with a college and boarding school, so there is no closing time. I suppose a late-night visit might look suspicious... More
