Not a "large" attraction but filled with period furnishings and also history as shown through the many governors that lived here. The docent gave us extensive background on the mansion and also lots of information on what was going on in Bismarck the day of our visit. We walked from the Heritage Museum to the mansion and then on to... More

I imagine it's difficult in this day and age to get grants to keep hear kind of places going and interesting in the modern era of interactive exhibits and the such. It's a lovely house where the staff quite clearly care about the history and their job. We arrived to a lady playing guitar and singing for people and were... More

I love the old Governors Mansion. I believe it was built in about 1888. It is an old vicorian style mansion. It has 2 fireplaces, 2 bedrooms and a couple or bedrooms for the maids. Also a Parlor with a piano and fireplace, A fancy dining room with a fireplace and a kitchen. Out in back is the carriage house.... More

Every year they have an ice cream social and I just happen to show up on that day. This building wasn't built for the governors but ended up serving that purpose later on. It has an interesting maids quarters that are two steps below the bedroom level with a private stairway. The carriage house is just behind and there is... More

This is a pretty cool place to visit. The restoration has not been done phenomenally but it's still really neat to quickly check out. The part of the city is beautiful and the surrounding homes are quite spectacular too.

An hour of your time will allow you to see this neat historic home. Great history and fund to look at interior decoration of the past.

Located about 10 minutes from the interstate, a great place to stretch your legs. The furnishings & posted information offered good education of the area & past leaders. Stroll through the house and carriage house at your own pace...took us about 40 minutes. No entrance fee, but the experience is worthy of a donation.

We popped in here for a quick stop on a rainy morning. We were the only visitors so it didn't take long to go round. It was self guided so you could go at your own speed. It has been well restored and in particular the different paints and wallpapers that have been identified and are now displayed.

This is a absolutely great site to visit for anyone interested in period North Dakota architecture. Many small bits of information were readily shared by our guide. It was rather obvious that she loved the ol' mansion and her job. The carriage house is also very interesting. An excellent job was done in restoring this jewel in Bismarck.
