Our tour guide took us outside of Moscow to visit Tolstoy's family estate. We had rather unfortunate local guide to take us around as she was robotic and spoke from her memorized script. So our interactions and questions with her were somewhat stilted. Perhaps she...More

We had a frustrating time getting hold of anyone at Yasnaya Polyana to book a tour in English which we were keen to have, being very interested in Tolstoy and his writing but with limited Russian. We contacted the estate via email several times well...More

Good for a half-day long walk in the park. The Tolstoy mansion isn't really an attraction, so do not waste your 2 hours on it, if you are not a particular fan of his. The park is best to be visited in late spring or...More

We just bought tickets when we arrived--on a Saturday. The guided tours are in Russian, by the way. The cost for an English guide is very expensive. We had a Russian friend translate for us. Are you Russian speaking?
