Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was surprised by the less than favorable reviews as we loved this villa. It has retained its support buildings and its setting on the canal and the interiors are simple and beautiful. The grounds are not in pristine condition but i cannot imagine the cost of maintaining the structures themselves. The front and rear elevations are each different and stately and tge contrast of colors on the main facade are striking.
I do not recommmend this for those with physical challenges as the stairs are steep and there is no handrail.

This small gem is located on the Brenta Canal, and best viewed from it, as Palladio designed. Only the gardens and one floor ( piano nobile) are open - and only for 2 days a week - so check the website first, and when on it, how to get there (about 7 mins walk) from the bus stop from Padua or Venice. There are almost no signs!
The design is superbly balanced, but it is a small villa. No photography allowed inside. The frescoes are very good, with some good visual jokes, and excellent trompe l'oeil effects - very realistic. It is a perfect villa of its type.
So why a 4 rating? Staff. Poor ticket office, few welcomes, and little information. Inside there are printed guide sheets, if only you can find them! Once located, fine, in about 4 languages. One person inside, no welcome, no suggestion about the guide sheets, giving a long talk to 4 persons and ignoring 20. Such a contrast to so many properties in the UK!.
Gardens are so so, but we are spoiled in the UK.
So, well worth a visit, but the staff could do so much more!

This villa was designed by the famous Palladio after which Thomas Jefferson style his designs. You can tour the main level and enjoy all the frescoes but the furnishings are not of the period. No photos are allowed inside. On a dark rainy day, it is hard to see the frescoes as the lighting is limited.

We did not enjoy this visit. It is expensive, the park is limited and the rooms are very limited in number and the displays are poor. The best view is from the road, as you pass by. Highly recommend Villa Widmann instead, which has an interesting park, wonderful interiors, hospitable hosts and you can enjoy a relaxing tasty lunch on their terrace.

Check the limited visiting hours, as this villa is well worth visiting - you see the genius of Palladio's design set in beautiful gardens. We would have liked to explore the lower floors too, but these weren't open. There is a bus stop nearby but check the frequency for the return trip.

Typical, a must see villa of the Venetian territory
It's expensive for the experience (10EU), The personnel is not friendly. The shop is cold and dark, it really does not make you stay.

It's a really nice view arriving from the road along the channel, reflecting in the water. Short pleasent walk after parking along the river. The lady at the shop, selling the tickets, seems completely busy at the phone, or not visible at all, difficult to get her attention. The girl at the floor you are allowed to visit was much more helpful, ready to answer questions. You borrow a plastified paper with some explanations, and you can also download a guided tour on your smartphone (but we didn't, the paper seemed enough). The visitable interior is pretty small, but impressive. Pity you are not allowed to take pictures. From the outside park you can appreciate the Palladio architecture.

La Malcontenta is a little jewel from Palladio. Hidden away just appear to you at the end of a secluded garden. Very beautifully proportioned only “il piano nobile” can be visited and photos are not allowed of the inside. The garden is well proportioned as the Villa itself. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately, we only saw the exterior (and I am not sure if the interior can be seen), but what we saw was quite impressive. The building is quite huge and its front is quite different from its back facade. Its front facade reminds of Venetian villas, while at the back it looks like a renaissance building.

A piedi molto vicino.
