Overview
More
Castle Mountain Resort is a hidden, not so little gem of a ski resort in Southern Alberta. Often called the best kept secret in the Rockies, the mountain was founded in 1966. 51 years later, Castle is lauded for its superior ski / snowboard terrain, laid-back community feel and, most of all, its sense of authenticity. Boasting almost 3,000 vertical feet of some of the longest continuous fall lines in North America, Castle is spread out over two mountains, with 94 in-bounds trails and bowls, serviced by 7 lifts. The resort also boasts one of North America’s only resort based cat-ski operations; the Powder Stagecoach. From family cruisers, to the infamous steeps of the South Side Chutes, to wonderful tree skiing, Castle Mountain has terrain to satisfy every guest and every ability level. Castle is truly an authentic western ski experience. Nestled between the communities of Pincher Creek and the Crowsnest Pass, local ranch hands and seasoned powder hounds alike, share the slopes on the daily. Here the Wild West is alive and well. Plentiful snowfall makes more than just skiing and snowboarding possible. The resort offers guided snowshoe tours, complete with equipment rentals and featuring a scenic chairlift ride, every weekend. The Syncline Castle Trails Association maintains a 15 km network of beginner to intermediate cross-country ski trails at the Syncline-Castle Cross-Country Ski Area, just minutes from the mountain. Accommodations are also plentiful at Castle Mountain Resort, nearly all of which are truly ski to your door options. The Castle Mountain Lodge and Hostel features more than 50 beds in a hostel style format, in addition to a dozen hotel rooms. If you’re looking for something a bit roomier, or for a larger family or group, more than two dozen vacation homes and condos are available throughout the resort. In the summer Castle Mountain is the perfect venue for an intimate mountain getaway wedding. The T-Bar Pub and Grub is also open on weekends throughout the summer. If you stop by while you explore the beautiful West Castle Region, you won’t be disappointed.

We loved the terrain at Castle, which was perfect for our group. We like fast cruising blue runs and avoid moguls. Lots of blue runs here. The 2.5 hour drive from Calgary is shorter than to Fernie or Kicking Horse. The crowds were minimal, the...More
