We had a great time on our whale watching tour on August 10, 2016. Everyone was friendly and informative, not to mention pretty funny as well, lunch as very welcome (hot soup on a windy, cold day was just what we needed!) and best of all, we saw a ton of whales, including orcas, and even got to listen on... Mackay Whale Watching operates from Port McNeill using the fastest boat in the area. This gives Bill the skipper a huge advantage in terms of the area he can cover depending on the reports he receives on the location of Orcas and Humpback whales. Bill's knowledge and enthusiasm make for a interesting and exciting trip. After watching Orcas and Humpbacks... More

Great trip with great opportunities to see Orca's and other wildlife. We were on the water for more than 5 hours. Next to the killer wales we have seen a Humpback whale, seelions and seals. Staff on the boat was very good and the captain was very entertaining. Boat was comfortable.

Had a fabulous day and the captain did a great job finding us orcas, humpback and minke whales as well as a sea otter, sea lions and porpoises. We even heard the whales communicating via the underwater speaker. Great boat, lots of space and we were really looked after by the crew and would definitely recommend the tour. Thanks for... More

We attended the tour on September, 14th and 15th 2015 and were very pleased by the relaxed atmosphere, the friendliness and competence of the crew. The Skipper is the company’s owner, he is accompanied by a young woman (who is probably his daughter). Both are very kind and keen to show you wildlife and to share their knowledge about them.... We spent a thoroughly enjoyable day seeing about 20 different Orca whales in various pods followed by about 20 more humpback whales. The area is remarkably beautiful and we also saw a bear on the beach as well as sea lion. Lunch was good and the staff knowledgeable. We appreciated the way they did not crowd the whales and seemed... More

I visit Port McNeill regularly. The only boat I will go whale watching on is with the Mackays. They have the fastest boat (it's also a Search and Rescue boat), the have heated indoor seating, if it's raining they roll up the side curtains so your camera gear stays dry, they serve warm soup for lunch, and it's a family... We saw lots of Orcas, a few Humpbacks and a small rock island full of sea lions. The area is so scenic it's amazing. Food was good as well. 38 people on our boat that day.
