Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Bring money. Lots of money. From $5 for 30 minutes** of parking to $4.50 for a stale cinnamon roll, $4.50 for an insipid latte, this locale disappointed us at every turn.
** To be fair, that is a flat rate so it is also $5 for a day's parking, if you can find a day's activities to entertain yourselves. There were a few free parking spots on the streets for a couple of lucky visitors.
The worst thing about the prices was barely a smile from a single person we encountered.
There is a lovely 'Telegraph Cove' welcome sign in front of the 'red office' but it was littered with rubbish (plastic coat hangers) that looked like they'd been there for a while.
There are public washrooms which were handy on a day of many highway miles. They are basic and still using a blow dryer for hands.
The only COVID protocols in place were reminders about social distancing. No one we saw working in the front line of customer services was wearing a mask.
Telegraph Cove is a pretty geographic feature, a lovely cove surrounded by dense forest, but it's a long way to drive off the highway for unfriendly, pricey service.

Not worth a stop. Heard a lot of things about Telegraph Cove and was deeply disappointed when we got there. Yes, the scenery is spectacular, but there are equally stunning places on the north end of Vancouver Island. The run-down buildings, unfriendly staff and mediocre restaurants make it a destination I would not recommend. The Bunkhouse smelled musty, and the toilets made an unsettling gurgling noise every couple of hours. Drive further north to Port McNeill, or further still to Port Hardy, where you can get out to San Josef Bay in Cape Scott Provincial Park. Both well worth a stop. The Whale Interpretive Center and the Blinkhorn Trail/Dave Farrant Trail were both excellent. I'd suggest stopping in to do these two, then move on as quickly as you can.

Our second visit to Telegraph Cove. We stayed at campsite and then walked around Telegraph Cove. Our last visit the marina was so full we had tough time moving boat into marina. This trip marina almost empty. There isn’t much open at present. If living in BC the north island is definitely a great destination with lots to do. Highly recommend

A real gem of a place. Quaint, charming and a little quirky. We stayed two nights in one of the historic buildings and didn’t want to leave. We loved everything about the cove. Such a peaceful place with so many opportunities to view the spectacular wildlife in the area. The whale museum is a must. The staff are so friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their subject. The restaurant food also very good.

Telegraph Cove is supposed to be a fishing village or something. Pretty rundown, the shop closes at 4pm, otherwise the sidewalks are folded up. After that, there's just an overpriced, rather uncomfortable pub (where it's not easy to get a seat).
The Cabin we stayed in was sour but run down (Telegraph Cove Lodge).
The problem is that from here great(!) Excursions are offered that start very early. Since Telegraph Cove is remote, you have to stay here de facto. They know that too, so they don't care about the "good" of the customer (who probably won't be back anytime soon anyway).

What a wonderful place, we only stayed a couple of nights but could easily have stayed longer. We really didn't want to leave. We just had a room in the bunk house, which far exceeded our expectations. Great views, lots of space and incredible clean. I would highly recommend.

If you are in the area and you have time, you need to stop by here. The scenic views and little shops are great. Take a walk on the boardwalk to see more views. They have a resort there and what looks like a camper area.

Boring, way too expensive, teenagers for crew are rude. Even when staying no extras, no TV, all about the $$$$$. Don't go.

Me and my cousin are planning to be in and around Telegraph Cove from the 6th of may untill the 8th of may. One of our biggest dreams is to make a Kayak-tour in that area, but I can't find companies that do any tours in may. Bookings can be made from june.. Is there maybe anyone who can give us advice?

Can you please tell me the best time of year to visit. It will be my birthday present (October) and I would like to see plenty of whales and bears. Thank you
Written 4 December 2017
Late August to October.
If possible save up your money and spend a couple of nights at Knight Inlet Lodge to see the bears

When is the best time of year to visit to see bears and whales
Written 4 December 2017
To verify, the Black Bears have been fewer. The grizzly tours begin May-Sept & see grizzlies almost everyday.

As we dont wish to drive while there how else can we get to telegraph cove? BC ferry to port Hardy then a taxi?? Have looked online at the many accommodation and activities to do but cant book until we know how we are getting there.
Written 10 August 2017
You can get a taxi from Port Hardy but I hired a car as it was the cheapest and easiest option by far (I was on a budget as was backpacking). Accommodation sells out very fast so you probably need to book a couple of months in advance.

We would like to stay 3-4 nights here and do grizzly tour, whale watch tour and a fishing charter as part of our Canada trip. How do we get there from Vancouver ? Is there a ferry or float plane? Thanks Lyndal (NZ)
Written 6 August 2017
We rented a car from the airport and drove there. Getting there was half the fun. I do not know if there are flights or ferries to this location.
