There are 2 polar bear status in Gimli. They are nice for taking a photo but that's it. It's one of the main attractions along with the Viking statue

The New Icelandic Heritage Musem is a great place to learn about the local culture. Both Icelandic and Ukrainian heritage helped build this community and their stories are told here.

Gimli is a lovely place to visit, got a lot of fond memories from 1981, 1983, 1994 and again 2015 always find my way back to Gimli Icelandic Centre is a lovely place to learn about the history

Very quaint Town that triples its population in summertime. Lots of local Icelandic history and amazing to discover the immensity of the fishing industry for those expecting a normal Prairie landscape. Read story boards of Ice Harvesting, fishing and the early settlers. Very good display...More

This is a very interesting museum. It has very good displays and traces the Icelandic Heritage of Gimli.

Before anything else: Don't expect to find here the story of Icelandic immigration to Manitoba, but you can get a glimpse of some pieces of their heritage.

What a knowledgeable guide at this museum! Did the self guided tour but then was able to talk to the woman selling the $5 senior tickets. She can trace her heritage back to the real RAGNOR NORTHBROOK, of the Vikings series. Loved the history of...More
