Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife, daughter and I visited this winery for the first time the week of Christmas '14. The road leading to the winery is not the best; it is a dirt road about two miles from the highway with the occasional puddle. But, do not be discouraged, for the wines and food will more than make up for it.

We were given a tour of the winery by Sylvia, who was very attentive and thorough in answering all of our questions. There was nothing special about the actual facilities, which are under constuction in some areas. The store and restaurant area are modern and welcoming.

I must mention that we decided to visit the winery because we tried a bottle of the blend of reds at a restaurant and liked it very much. So, our expectations were high before getting there. And we were not disappointed at all. The wines were amazing, easily the best compilation of varietals in a single winery, and I have visited quite a few in different countries. The Zinfandel is the best I have tried ever - although, to be fair, I have never tried a Zin beyond $50 or $60; I was very impressed with it at approx. $35.

And then we sampled the Cab from their premium selection; similarly to my experience with the Zin, I found Balche Dos to be the best cab under $200 I have ever tasted. Needless to say, we ended up buying variety of them, including a Balche Dos and a Balche Siete (which I haven't opened yet and can't wait to try).

After the tasting tour, we had a late lunch at the outdoor restaurant. The food was very good - a freshly prepared fusion of traditional and progressive Mexican dishes. Other than the premium wines, you can buy all of their wines by the glass, which makes it an even better value.

I definitely recommend Baron Balche's wines and restaurant.

Stopped by for wine tasting with appointment, decided to stop by early and try appetizers paired with great wine, unfortunately bus after bus of patrons made the ambiance bit heavy, but the wines were great and definitely a must on a slow day..

I went on March 8, 15 with a group of friends. The main reason we went to this winery is because they have a nice underground wine cellar. The guide was friendly but was pushing us to finish our wine very fast (we spent around 10 min) he wanted to finish the wine testing very fast. We ask for the wine cellar and he said it was closed that day because some remodelation. But when we were leaving we saw a group of people inside the wine cellar. We asked why that group was able to get it but the guide didn't know what to do. In conclusion Baron Balche has not a good organization and not good service, the wines are expensive but not all wines are good. The place is very nice, wines OK, but bad service.

This was 1 of 5 wineries I visited during my trip to Valle. I maybe did not pic the best tour because the wines where not that good.
I had much better wines in other places. The facilities are excellent. I would give it another try for sure

I visited this jewel of a winery with my whole family. The kids were understandably less than entertained during the tour and tasting, but the adults were well pleased. We all chose the level of wines we preferred, and were given wines from a variety of price points. My personal favorite was their rose, but I enjoyed them all.
After our tour, we had dinner. The beef carpaccio was yummy, as was my New York steak. I also enjoyed a sangria with my meal, which was a refreshing and cool beverage to end the day with.
My entire group of 16 was pleased with the food even the children.
My only disappointment is entirely my own fault...I forgot to go back in to buy a bottle of that rose to take home. I guess I'll just have to go back soon.

For either lunch or dinner, Baron Balche is be far one of the best "ranch style, open flame" restaurants in the Valle. Though many have this style of kitchen, the authentic style have it done before most makes it one of the best out there!

We came in the summer and had to wait to do this tasting! The cave downstairs looked like a lot of fun. There was a large group tasting that we tagged along with. There were so many wines to choose from! I was shocked that we did not like even one wine that we tasted. I am an avid wine collector and had seen this wine in several restaurants. So I was excited to try the wines. I was terribly disappointed that the wines were not good! It's not worth the waiting to try these wines!

We had a tasting with Isaac, who was amazingly friendly and informative. The wines were all quite delicious. This was one of the highlights of our trip.

The trip was really good, the staff was extremely friendly, the wines were really good, they showed us their brewery and gave us a Balche 2 as a gift. It really is a good place to spent an afternoon with your friends
