Breathtaking tomb, fascinating amounts of detail, all in homage to one of the great minds of Mexican music and culture. The vibrantly coloured tiles leading to the great sombrero nearly sing to you, each color band being inscribed with the name of a song from this artist’s extensive catalogue. The cross-shaped tiling at the top of the sombrero, the space for the artist’s mother, and the curvature of the monument—designed to resemble the road from Guanajuato to Dolores Hidalgo—all make this a picturesque and worthwhile stop. This is a little bit out of the way from the town centre of Dolores Hidalgo—don’t expect to walk, and do arrange transportation. But do make a point of venturing over, whether by taxi or tour, because it is worth the short trip.

Stopped at cemetery before Delores Hidalgo to visit the grave and monument to Jose Alfredo Jimenez, 1926-1973, a great composer and famous signer. This is another tourist attraction.
