To get here you have to head east from the Pyramid of the Moon (there are signs). These murals are original and so precious. Definitely worth the time!

Obviously, Diego Rivera was not the first Mexican mural artist. This small Palacio that is part of the Teotihuacan pyramid area is a treasure. For whatever reason, most people seem to cluster around the pyramids and overlook this small complex and its captivating frescoes. So you can wander through the "rooms" almost privately while imagining what it must have been like to live there so many centuries ago. The frescoes will capture your mind. Just imagine how many people have looked at them over how many years. And now, it's your turn! Do not miss these treats for the mind and imagination.

Close by the pyramids. There are a number of different frescoes here, including the most notable, the Paradise of Tlaloc, the rain god. Owing to its small size, it can get fairly crowded. You also get a lot more out of it going with a knowledgeable guide who can explain the meanings behind the murals.

This place is overlook by most of the visitors of Teotihuacan due to it's size. It is small but it has beautiful fresco and it's under the shade hence it's a nice place to relax after the huge complex of huge Teotihuacan complex.

Tepantitla is small site close to the pyramids; the small building is sheltering the beautiful frescoes of the Paradise of Tlaloc, the god of rain. The colours are remarkably vivid and fairly well preserved. I spent a bit of time observing the different figures painted going on about their daily life, depicted in a way similar to a graphic novel. But then there was the gruesome depiction of something happening on the mountain where people did not fare as well, headless within a bloody cascade.

Not many murals survive in Teotihuacan but those that do are a must-see in a tour of this archaeological park. Impressive murals that complement the tour of the pyramids.

We happened to read about this place the day after visiting the pyramids and decided to stop by. There was no charge and we just walked in. It's a series of murals that are pretty interesting to see. Worth checking out!

Our guide took us to this site, somewhat off the well beaten path at Teotihuacan, to observe the royal living quarters of nobility associated with the ceremonial site. We were told that few of these palacios have been excavated, and only two have been partially reconstructed by the INAH and open to the public. The murals are absolutely resplendent - - bright colors, depictions of animals, birds (especially humming birds), butterflies, fish etc. I highly recommend visiting this palacio if you are touring Teotihuacan per se.
