WOW - the blend of fresh water and ocean water provides for great opportunities to observe the variety of fish. Use a life jacket and just float on the surface and observe through your goggles. Guides awesome with novice snorkelers.

We went late in the day and visibility was very poor. We were disappointed so didn't stay long. There are showers, toilets and changing areas. The lagoon is beautiful, when we arrived there were lots of people. It would probably be a beautiful place in the morning.

We really enjoyed visiting Yal Ku. We were with a tour group - which I would stay a distance away so the bottom isn't stirred up. However, we saw so many fish and sealife it was fantastic. The closer we got to the ocean the less fish we saw. Stay around the perimeter and the rocks and you'll see the... More

We were in a group of approx. 10 people. Such a beautiful place. Went there early, because by the time we were leaving. it was very crowded with tour groups.

We came on Good Friday and, after doing some early snorkelling with the turtles at Akumal beach we headed here at about 9:30am. There are two ways in - we chose at random but found the right hand entrance had a sculpture garden in and around the lagoon and pretty manicured grounds so we were happy. On arrival there were... Absolutely beautiful! You'll literally feel as if you're swimming in an aquarium! The lagoon opens up to the sea and so you'll have a lot of brackish fish. There's plenty of fish that aren't even listed at the park! Bring snorkel gear or you can rent it there too. We didn't get a guide, but many people did. I wouldn't... More

The area was beautiful but the water was not crystal clear and fish were not abundant. I decided to remove my snorkel mask and just swim and enjoy the views.

We walked here from our hotel in Akumal - about 3kms. Entry is $14 USD each. You can hire quipment but we had our own. This place isnt pretty, the underwater scenery also is not that pretty - better in Akumal. There is not much variety of fish and its overcrowded with group tours being towed around. We swam once... We were staying in a home in Akumal and had read about Yal-ku. We walked from our house down to the lagoon about 2:00 in the afternoon. I'd been warned about how crowded it gets, but we decided to give it a shot anyways. Being passed by a number of tour buses on the way warned us there might be... More
