Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

The cenote is lovely—large and inviting, as many have said. The admission price is higher than average, but they don’t charge for life jackets, lockers, or the zip lines, unlike other places. The bathrooms and changing rooms are clean and modern. It’s a mostly covered, underground cenote, which means the water is a bit cold, so keep that in mind. It’s not the “best cenote in Vallodalid,” but it’s an enjoyable experience. Get there before the midday busses start pulling in, discharging scores at a time—it can get very noisy inside.

So why two stars? Because we made the mistake of going for the lunch buffet/cenote visit combination, which cost an astounding 1100 pesos for two. We had paid slightly less for a great dinner and cenote swim the evening before at Zazil Tunich, which might real be the best cenote in Valladolid, so were shocked by the truly dreadful, cafeteria-style food at Chukum.

Everything had been blanded down — apparently for presumed American or European tastes — and was tasteless, overcooked, and under-spiced. The food is plentiful, if that’s all you care about, but you’d have to eat a lot to make it worth what they make you pay. Really, they ought to be ashamed to serve food that mediocre.

If you’re in the area, you might want to experience the cenote, but eat anywhere else.

The life guard guy is extremely disrespectful. The Mayan ceremony is a scam. He didn’t even warn people about price and he told us we had to do the ceremony before go to cenote and then he asked us to pay a minimum “contribution” which cost 200 pesos or 10 usd each one. We don’t recommend this place to anyone. The water was dirty. Don’t waste your money. There’s a lot of better cenotes around.

We visited this Cenote as we thought of it as an insider tip, however, once we arrived there was already all the big tour busses. But given the natural beauty of this place its understandable, that its obviously not a secret anymore. The facilities of changing rooms are very clean and modern, however the showers lack a bit of water pressure. The cenote itself is simply wonderful with the deep blue water, very clear. Much fun with different jumping platforms and a zipline. As we were on an individual tour, we had the chance to enjoy the cenote a bit longer until the bigger groups were disappearing. One thing they could improve, it was not very clear, where to get the locker keys. So most of the people changed first even already had a shower, and then had to run back into the gift shop to get locker keys. It would have been better, if they just hand you out a locker key immediately when you check in (which is right next to the counter of the gift shop) or to have someone standing by the locker area to hand out the keys. In total it is a really wonderful natural place.

My wife and I arrived at this cenote just after a rain storm, and we were the only people there for an entire hour. A little drizzle were coming into the water from the opening above, and then sun shined on this magical cave. Our guide told us this is a relatively new cenote as it was on private property just a couple of years ago. The pool is beautiful, clean, well maintained, and there is even a place to dive and zipline into the water. There water is crystal clear, you can see fish swimming, and when the sun is shining, you can see the bottom even thou it's 60' deep. This is so much better than the crowded cenotes you get near Chitchen Itza, a lovely experience from me and my wife.

I hesitate writing this as this was the best cenote. It’s beautiful and pristine. Their system is efficient. Lunch that was included revived us after a long, hot walk at Ek Balam. Salad was very fresh, cooked veggies were fresh too, and the pork was better than the chicken. But the star of the show is the cenote and it surpassed all others we’ve visited so far. Our kids are age: 9, 7, and 6. I wouldn’t bring younger kids unless they are confident and strong swimmers. The zip line was great to dive deep into the cool, clear water. So beautiful inside! The Mayan Shaman said prayers of protection after our swim for a donation which was a lovely way to end the day. We will definitely return!

We heard so much about that incredible cenote in Valladolid that we finally decided to go with the family to experience something really out of this world. I have seen many cenotes before but this one will always impress me. When you go down those stairs that lead you to that "majestic" entrance view... WOW!! You just won't believe your eyes. This cenote is just so huge, so full of different cavern formations that it actually takes your breath away. It's just pure beauty!!

You also have the buffet made of local Yucatan food very good, it also offer pasta, salad, soup etc. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We really had a good time and we will surely suggest this place to everyone. My uncle have knee problem, but he still went down as he could sit down on the many benches that are on both side of the descent. Everything was very well design to help people of all age visit that precious place.

Thank you "Aventuras Maya" for all your wonderful tour side!!

This place is like heaven on the earth. Well organized; hygenic conditions in change rooms. Nice food in cafeteria. Hamaks to rest under the trees. Definitely recommended.

Fabulous experience. I was a bit unsure as this denote had limited reviews but I am so glad we visited. This was the first of three we visited and have to say the best. It is newly opened and has clean facilities and once you are in everything from life jackets to lockers are included. There are zip lines and jumping platforms and we were fortunate to have it all to ourselves. Totally worth going and I would skip Il Kil and even Oxman and just come here

This is a great cenote in your way to Chichen-Itza.

We arrived super early so we were the only ones. It was great!

Water was freezing but you get used to it after a while.

Zipline is super fun!
