Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The cenote is gorgeous! Nothing negative to say about it. However, you need to go through many sellers to get to both of them. There's no clear path to either cenote. It's a hallway of stalls and sellers...there's really no way to avoid it. It almost takes away the magic of the cenotes as everything looks slightly dated and sad. Everyone trying to sell us something all the time. We went to the Zaci cenote before this one, and not only is it significantly cheaper (only 30 pesos compared to 130 for this one. We paid for both) but you're not harassed by vendors. If you need to choose one, got to Zaci in downtown Valladolid. Otherwise this one is nice, but just be prepared to be swarmed by vendors.

Loved everything about this cenote. Did this one and the other one I think it's 120 pesos for both or 80 pesos for one. You have to rent life jackets at each one for like 40 pesos which was no big deal because the cenote felt incredible especially after a long hot day at Chichen Itsa.

DEFINITELY eat there as well. Authentic Mayan food and the best tamales I've ever had. Such a shame watching all these other tourists just walking past the outside restaurant on the way to the parking lot. Food was amazing. Ordered two meals and 2 beers for 250 pesos. One of my most memorable meals in Mexico.

Magical Cenote. Underground, rays of sunshine and light, stalagmites, and refreshing natural water - what more than you need! AND 80 MXN for Xkeken / Dzitnup. WOW!

Went on a Wednesday afternooon around 2pm and maybe 30-40 people were there. Amazing way to spend the day with a friend of mine when she came in town!!

Stopped here after swimming at nearby Cenote San Lorenzo Oxman. We wanted to see an example of a mostly enclosed cenote. Water is quite cool which is to be expected. There are unaffiliated "guides" lurking in round the entrance who try and give the impression that they actually work there. You don't need a guide here. Lots of vendors to get through to get to the cenote and rent the obligatory life jackets. Then have to repeat the process to visit the other onsite cenote Samula with a different set of vendors and a 2nd mandatory life jacket rental. They are really figuring out how to extract every last penny out of visitors.

We went at a time when there weren’t many tourists around, so it wasn’t very crowded and we were able to enjoy ourselves. A guy named Doroteo approached us in the entrance and basically stuck with us for both of the cenotes. We tipped him $50 pesos at the end, so I think it was okay justo to have someone tell you where to go and answer your questions.

Beautiful cenote that opens at 8am and that is the time when you should go. We were there basically alone - 3 other people came with us. Entrance fee is more than reasonable - 80 peso for one cenote, 125 peso for two (Samula I think is the second one). Definately visit both, they are similar but different, and worth to have a look. SO peaceful, so quiet. So much better than other tourist cenotes with tens of screaming swimming toursts.

The Cenotes were great. And if you arrive early you will have most to yourself.

But when I arrived, this guy helped me and after I had bought tickets and gotten my life west he started leading me to one of the cenotes and said that I HAD to have a guide(him for 150MX$) for this cenote otherwise I couldn’t go. It took me 20 minutes to get rid of him and of course you can go alone 🙄

Best cenotes of my trip! Not at all crowded by tourists trying to get the IT shot! It's very organized if you follow directions at check in. Best priced in a whole weeks trip as well for two in one CAN'T BEAT IT! The water was the cleanest of 3 others I visited, did I say best priced too!!! Free fishy pedicure at the first one just sit still at the entrance and they come to you! We had a tour guide he was so knowledgeable and actually a native not interested in the IT things but what to appreciate when their on our trip. Showers and restroom available lockers for rent but dirt cheap when you think about what you paid for entrance! Ohh yeah check out how beautiful the light reflects your vest and lights up the whole cenote orange 😍

Inflation has evidently hit Valladolid because we were charged $226 pesos (including the life jacket) not the $80 mentioned in an earlier post. Then we fell for the guide scam - he didn’t say anything about a tip until we were already at the cenote - so another $100 pesos made this a relatively expensive entrance fee. Note - they want to hold your ID as a deposit for the life jacket but as we were planning to go swimming we had left it in the car. They then wanted to hold our car keys but we absolutely refused so they settled on taking my husband’s sunglasses. You are able to visit two cenotes and they are very nice and not too crowded. Yokdzonot cenote is less expensive, less hassle and just as pretty.

Ok, I was super keen to go to every cenote I could fit in during our trip, but I would say you can skip this one and its sister, Cenote Samula (the two together are called Cenote Dzitnup), particularly if you are driving yourself. We stopped in on our way back to Valladolid from Chichen Itza, but we went to other cenotes in the area that are more beautiful, less crowded, and in more scenic surrounding areas. The Xkeken and Samula cenotes were ok, but the facilities supporting them felt a little run-down/sad. If you want a gorgeous open-air cenote, go to Cenote Xcanche at the ruins of Ek Balam, north of the town. If you want a magical underground cenote, go to Xux Ha just east of the town.
