Dolphin Research Center is a nonprofit education and research facility....

Dolphin Research Center is a nonprofit education and research facility. Home to a family of dolphins and sea lions, we offer fun-filled narrated behavior sessions and educational presentations every half an hour. During your visit you can watch and learn all about these amazing animals including dolphin maternity, social groupings, physiology, natural abilities and more. You'll see how we care for them, how we're working with them in cognition and behavioral research and the importance of conserving them and their ocean habitat. DRC also offers a variety of interactive programs including the Dolphin Encounter swim program, Ultimate Trainer for a Day, Trainer Experience half-day program, Researcher Experience half-day program and Paint with a Dolphin. We are actively involved in programs for people with Special Needs, as well as veterans from the Wounded Warrior Project, Military families, and others. Most of our dolphins were born here. Others have come to us for a variety of reasons -- including those who were injured and rescued as youngsters and later deemed non-releasable by the government. We are deeply committed to providing all of them with a safe, healthy, happy home for life. The well-being of the dolphins and sea lions is our top priority. Your visit and participation in programs supports the care of our marine mammal family, the maintenance of their natural sea water home, and the rest of our mission to educate others about these animals and the importance of conservation. Thank you for your interest in Dolphin Research Center!

We had a really nice time here, our kids (10, 7 and 3) all enjoyed watching the dolphins and sea lions. It's definitely for those who are more interested in quality of life and research, not as much of a showy place but we like that better. The programs are pricey and we splurged to do the family encounter. It... More

This place has alot of wows. Wows on experience and wows on price. We had a in the water experience with our 3year old with pax. It was worth the money but damn pricey. We spent $400 on just a 25 min session and a few things at the gift shop. Our little girl loved it though.

This is a place that places high value on customer interaction with dolphins. Activities range from simply watching the dolphins perform to getting in the water with them. The staff is knowledgeable and obviously committed to the dolphins. They interact well with the customers.. My only nit to pick is that it seems a little too slick for a research... More

We loved this place. It was interesting to see how they trained the dolphins and how well taken care of the animals are. The kids did the swim with the dolphins encounter and loved it. The actual swim with the dolphin could be longer, it was a very quick ride. This was more an encounter then swim. With that said... More

Programs are informative. So fun to watch the dolphins perform. Obvious that the workers & students are very interested & involved.

We did the "Play with dolphins" session, and our dolphin and trainer were delightful. It was certainly the closest interaction I've had with a large sea mammal, so from that perspective it was very enjoyable. However, it was not a "20-25 minute session" just for the two of us, it was 20-25 minutes for us PLUS the other two parties... More

It is like watching a circus in water. I don't know which is the most impressive. the things the dolphins do or watching the communication between them and the trainer. After watching for a while one could question who is trainer and who is the trainee. I got enough photos to use for screen saver to last a lifetime.

We first tried to visit the Dolphin center on a rainy day, only to find out they close when there is a threat of lightning. Oops, there go the tickets we bought online in advance. The center offered us a raincheck, and luckily we were able to return the next day. Beware of buying in advance--we could have easily been... More

What a wonderful and interesting place to learn a lot about dolphins. The dolphins are in a natural habitat and we were able to observe young babies being trained by the exceptional staff at this location. It was well worth the admission price. There are several activities that you can participate in with the dolphins. There are also sea lions.... More

My husband and I really enjoyed the DRC. We spent several hours being entertained by the staff, the dolphins, the sea lions and the children loving the interaction. This is a not for profit center and if you are looking for the glitz you will be disappointed. We loved the laid back atmosphere where learning and fun are the focus.
