Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A very interesting collection of local artefacts and information. Central location and easy to find. Very reasonably priced, BUT quite a few stairs may prove a problem for some.

Excellent little museum which provides lots of local (and some national) history. Very cleverly done: would highly recommend and a great price too.

This is a cracking little museum in the heart of the town with easy parking close by. You need to allow just over an hour. They have made great use of the cells for exhibits and the boards detailing the history of the town and some of the rogues who inhabited the gaol are very well written. A very interesting and enlightening visit!

Made a special journey to visit this museum, it was ok but nothing really stood out to us. It is worth the £3.50 charge to go in, but the price should be guide on what there is to see.
Not easy to park near by as only allowed an hour to do so rom memory

Located in the old goal in the centre of the pretty town of Buckingham, the museum features a wide range of artifacts from the locality in a building that is itself a key part of the town’s history. Highly recommend a visit. Really well presented.

Beautiful building from the outside..
Wasn't expecting to much as it looks small.
But was very surprised..
The museum goes from dinosaurs to present day in Buckingham..
Also about the jail there..
Very interesting..
And reasonably price..
Worth a look around..

I didn’t have massive expectations for what I knew was only a small museum but I came away feeling that the visit was well worth the effort. The various galleries and displays give a great insight into the past with a real local flavour, all delivered in a wonderful building of historic importance in its own right.

Stories told include nearby Roman settlements, the Civil War, crime and punishment (as you’d expect in a former prison!), the development of local transport including railways, the Red Cross and the Salvation Army, local militia, Flora Thompson (Lark Rise to Candleford), the two World Wars and Scouting.

The team manning the museum on the day I visited were great and clearly very keen that visitors should enjoy their visit. Thank you, I did!
