Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a wander round this little museum in New Street, St Neots and found it very interesting and educational. It was opened in 1995 in what used to be the Old Court, a police station and magistrates court with a cell block and we saw the original cells where they used to keep the prisoners.
The staff were friendly and extremely knowledgeable and we learned about the history of St Neots from prehistoric times. We also learned about James Toller, the Eynesbury Giant, born in Rectory Lane on 28th August 1795. James enlisted with the Life Guards for a short time but went home to his mother after his health deteriorated. He died in 1818 when he was only 20 years old and was buried in St Mary’s Church, Eynesbury.
The museum is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 11am until 4pm and is suitable for adults and children alike. There is a nice shop where you can buy souvenirs, local history books, toys, etc. There is a stair lift with wheelchair available on the first floor and a disabled toilet. Dogs are not allowed, except guide dogs and hearing dogs.

Lovely museum in my home town which I had never been to before (slap wrist). No charge for residents, £3 for out of towners. And it is a very interesting walk down memory lane. Downstairs dominated by cells from old magistrates court and then there is a well structured set of exhibits explaining the history of St Neots, it's founding, the Priory, the slight battle in Civil War, the Eynesbury Giant, the St Neots Quads right up to an old school blazer from my old school. A "mouse" trail for the kids to follow is interesting and there are a few interactive things for them to do as we go round. As a St Neots girl and history buff it proved very interesting and I would recommend to any visitor as in a small space it does tell a long tale...

St Neots has a rich history that matches its lovely peaceful existence on the banks of the Ouse in Cambridgeshire. Come here to see the quaint ,market sq., find the famous Quads house in New st. walk the riverside park and visit the many churches including St Mary's in Eynesbury where the famous James Toller, a giant, is buried. There much to see and do here and a full day will do it justice. Put it on your list when in the area, you'll be glad you did.

We've been to many local museums, most are really dire. This however, was refreshing! Its staff and volunteers have clearly put in much effort to make visits worthwhile and enjoyable! Extremely commendable for a local museum that hasn't an enormous budget like the British Museum.

The St. Neots Museum, free for residents, provides an informative insight into the life and times of the village and town where the bones of St. Neot were supposedly buried. Hosting multiple exhibits on the archaeology and paleontology of the market town, as well as a couple of dioramas on life in the 19th and 20th centuries, the museum has a little bit of everything for an educational, hour-long visit. Furthermore, the museum hosts various events, especially festivals during the summer, which are something different, especially for such a sleepy yet beautiful town such as St. Neots.

A great place to visit with or without children! they often change displays and often run activity mornings for children which we have attended on several occasions! I donated my antique dolls pram which has gone through my family 4 generations and look forward one day to seeing it on display here!

Dropped in our last day in St Neots and it’s well worth a visit. History of the area is covered really well with lots of archeological findings. Set in the original local police station, with cells.
Extra credit for it being a locally driven project to reflect the importance of St Neots and it’s locals...and all for £3.

A friend and I had a day out in St Neots, and neither of us had been before. It was extremely interesting, and as my friend was local, and her partner was at school in St Neots, there was a lot of photos to look at, which she recognised many of the older places which have now been knocked down. It is free entry, buy donations are welcome. Local people have made lots of Christmas themed goodies, reasonably priced, and well worth a visit before Christmas.
