Welcome to Nantwich Museum. The fascinating history of one of Cheshire's most attractive and historic towns is brought to life by Nantwich Museum, founded in January 1980. Located in Pillory Street, at the heart of the town, the museum has main galleries telling the story of Nantwich through the ages - Roman salt making, Tudor Nantwich's Great Fire, the Civil War Battle of Nantwich (1644) and the more recent shoe and clothing industries. Free Admission.

Walking though Cocoa Yard, the possibility of passing one of Nantwich's points of true interest, and information, is simply too easy! Once inside, this Tardis like building, everything becomes much clearer. Well displayed, and interestingly laid out areas, deal with the history of this fascinating, little town. Staff, although sadly not as many as one would like to see on... More

I volunteer at the museum once a week, and there is plenty to look at, mostly about the history of Nantwich, and there is just the right amount of information, not too overwhelming.

Found the museum tucked away, nearly walked past but glad i didn't. It has all the history of an old Roman township and agriculture, close to Chester and never gave it a thought as Chester was a Roman garrison and had to be supplied from some where. There was a thriving salt manufacturing industry, which in Roman times was a... More

Free to enter museum that really gets to the hart of Nantwitch's past. Lovely exhibits that date back to the roman period of salt mining, through through to cheese making and shoe making. The staff are very helpful and enthusiastic ! Well worth an hour out of your day.

Super little museum, interesting, lots to see. Well worth visiting if in Nantwich. Lots of local info – on industries – salt, shoe making, cheese making, and exhibits from Roman history. Not just exhibits in a case – lots of drawers you can open to see extra material. The fire engine will be popular with boys of all ages.
