Well worth a visit; helpful staff, beautifully restored telling the story of the Mill and interesting facts about the local area. The cascades were amazing the day we visited and the outside area kept the children amused for ages.
Highly recommend a visit. Lots to see and do in this lovely village.

This little gem is a short walk from the northern terminus of the Ravenglass train. Very helpful staff, interesting info panels, well laid out. The mill is running, though it does not actually grind grain any more. You can see all the workings, including the water wheels. The mill is a complex of buildings including communal bakery and outdoor loos. There is a very hilly woodland garden to explore behind and above the mill, as well as a modern garden ‘below’ the mill.

A great little mill where you can learn about its history and see how it would have been operated back in the day. Good value for money. Staff/volunteers friendly and knowledgable. Spent about an hour there. Park at the train station and it's a 10 minute walk to the mill.

We travelled on the Ravenglass steam train to delegarth and walked from the station to this amazing piece of history. After a nice leisurely 10 minute walk on a quite road we reached the watermill it's a simply stunning area,. We paid the gentleman and had a wonderful chat, he was very knowledgeable and it was an absolute pleasure to chat to him. We then stepped back in time wondering around the mill, Lots of well presented information teaches you about the machinery and the processes and tools that were used.
And I came away having learned a lot, Beautiful buildings, outdoor areas and stunning surroundings. Absolutely well worth a visit.

We had a lovely time exploring this historic mill, which was completely unplanned! Myself partner and little dog were staying at Eskdale campsite, and decided to go for a little walk. We came across this magnificent place, alongside the river and waterfalls. We met a very friendly gentleman who then took the time to talk to us, and tell us all about the Mill. It is also dog friendly, so it was a no brainer for us!
We learned a lot about the history of the mill, and we couldn’t believe how well preserved everything still is. There are lots of information plaques around, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Outside the mill it shows you how the water is used, and it was just beautiful.
Will definitely recommend, and we would love to return! The area here is just beautiful, not to be missed!!
Thank you again to the gentleman who works hard to keep this place going, you do an amazing job!
A huge thanks from Charmaine, Simon and Tirry 🐶

It won't take long, but it's worth a visit - price is very reasonable and the restoration work is impressive. There is a working water wheel, and the mechanisms inside are in motion to show how it would have worked back in the day. Staff were welcoming and the social distancing worked well via timed slots that you book in advance.

Set in stunning surroundings and minutes away from Dalegarth Station, this little gem of a Water Mill is well worth a visit.
Kate could not have been more pleasant and more informative. It was a joy to appreciate the history whilst admiring the very well maintained buildings. The view from the charming pack horse bridge over the adjacent cottage and garden was blissful.

We spent about an hour here in between train journeys on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway. The staff there were so friendly and very welcoming. The Mill itself was interesting and very well presented. Before visiting I was slightly worried that the children would soon get bored (aged 6 & 4) but there are activities throughout the tour and beautiful grounds to explore so they were fully entertained. Also, the setting and views are amazing! Definitely recommend.

Popped here to have a break between the train journeys. Apparently you can walk the old disused track to it but we didn’t know about it so we walked the roads which had more walkers then cars.
The mill Is gorgeous and such a good tour, it’s relatively short but really interesting and well worth a visit.
The machinery that was used when the mill was producing flour is all working and shows the process that used to take place. There was lots of information about the mill and it’s past. The children enjoyed learning all about it and being able to see how the machinery worked.

We were very happy when we arrived in Dalegarth station and it turned out we had wrong information and the Mill is actually open on Tuesdays.
My sister recommended the visit, she has visited previous year with two kids and all of them enjoyed it.
The Mill is a short walk from the train station and because it wasn't busy, we managed to walk in without a previous booking. Very nice lady at the entrance gave us some information about the Mill and she showed us the way around (one way system in operation).
What an amazing place! Great to learn the history of it, there is plenty of information boards around, with some activities for kids to have fun with too.
Working machinery was just mesmerizing and it was really easy to see how perfectly everything was working back in the day.
We spent just under an hour in here.
When you're in the area I definitely recommend to go and check it out.
