Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely little pub which we used each day of our visit.. unfortunately spoilt on our last day by the miserable old barmaid who was unwelcoming and rude. My husband left before me and as soon as he left she said thank God hes gone. For a pub that must rely on tourists I would suggest that this member of staff be more hospitable or retire and go find some more lemons to suck

I’ve visited this pub at least once a year for many years and can honestly say that the beer is always perfection ! What a choice too . A helpful and descriptive beer menu on the wall with friendly staff and usually some banter from local regulars . A proper pub indeed.

Me and my wife were staying at the Lakeside Spa Hotel and Spa and decided to drive out in the evening. This place was recommended by the staff at the hotel so we took the 15 minute drive. Adequate parking the place was full but we managed to find a table for 2 it was Valentine’s Day . The drinks were reasonably priced and the food was value for money and amazing. We spent 50% of what we would of spent in the hotel and the service was brilliant. The bar staff were amazing well done .

Visited this pub and really wished we hadn't. I purchased drinks and sat outside with my wife and 19 month old. We all had drinks and my little one had their equivalent of a fruit shoot. I am mentioning this to make clear that we were paying customers, not just people trying to use the facilities, and that the pub does cater for children...why else would you sell fruit shoots?

Anyway...before setting off on the next stage of our walk, we wanted to change my little one. I asked one of the staff if there was baby changing, she said yes, in the ladies. My wife then proceeded to enter the pub with our child in her arms to be told that they had to get out of the pub and that they did not have baby changing facilities. When my wife said that his colleague had said it would be OK - he said he'd 'thrown it out'. My wife felt humiliated in front of the 'locals' in the pub and we were genuinely gobsmacked as to how someone could be so rude.

There are signs saying that children are not allowed in the bar. However, in the bar and outside the pub are two different things and it certainly doesn't say anything about not letting children use the toilet. There were also a couple of other children outside the pub at the time. If you don't like kids - why cater for them with Fruit Shoots? Were those children allowed to use the toilet?

Happy to take our money but not provide access to facilities.

In short, this obnoxious landlord wouldn't let a women change her child. I anticipate many people will love the fact that a pub isn't child friendly, but for families visiting Broughton in Furness when on holiday in the lakes, please take note. From our experience this is very much a 'local pub for local people'.

Nice pub. Staff friendly. Unfortunately locals not friendly! On arriving at the door 2 males were smoking on the step, neither moved to let us in.... Surely smokers should be away from the entrance. As a group of 6 adults on holiday we wanted to sit together and chose a window seat which housed most of us.... Local males arrived and were clearly not happy with our seating arrangement. We later realised we were in there regular seat and when we stood up to use the facilities they quickly claimed the seats. The younger 4 of our party felt very uncomfortable and chose to leave.... They would have spent a fair few pounds in the pub that evening.

Very friendly old fashioned real ale pub, excellent knowledge of beers and ales.
It is by no means modern, if you was gastro pubs then go elsewhere.
If you like proper english ale pubs then this is the one for you.

Brilliant British pub with great ales. Old school and perfectly so. The square was buzzing because of the pub in my opinion. There was a food van outside Thursday through to Sunday which made good addition. Pub lovers dream!

So we stopped here looking for lunch and a beer yesterday. Well I have to stay I thought I’d stepped out of a “league of gentlemen” they were the most unfriendly bunch ever - not even a hello. A fight to get to the bar. When we asked about lunch - we got two grizzly old rolls that had probably been there three days... couldn’t wait to leave - really don’t bother - keep driving!

A multi award winning, 'must visit' pub for the discerning beer drinker, with 8 superbly kept real ales on offer, plus a selection of traditional ciders. 2 open fires add to the atmosphere during the winter months. Very friendly, helpful staff and locals help make your visit a pleasant one.

Despite having lived close by some years ago this was my first visit to the Manor Arms.
On first entering it looks a little run down but with further investigation you find many years of historical facts about the pub and village.
They do a good selection of beers and ciders but no Guinness my afraid. most of the bar staff were friendly apart from one who needed to attend a customer service course.
fires in both rooms made it feel very cosy.
No food available but this did't detract.
locals quite friendly also . WORTH A VISIT.
